What can you expect?

Preferred by Nature is looking for an MRV Officer to support our Landscape Enterprise Networks (LENs) initiative and other regenerative agriculture projects. This role will focus on Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification to ensure high-quality impact assessment and data-driven decision-making.

As MRV Officer, you will play a key role in advancing our efforts in nature-based solutions, sustainability monitoring, and agricultural data analysis. You will work closely with farmers, technical experts, and stakeholders to implement MRV methodologies, track environmental indicators, and enhance data quality for outcome-based decision-making.

Working with us is never routine so the first year you can expect the following areas to be central to your work.

  • Ensure accurate data collection and analysis to support project impact assessment.
  • Coordinate with scientific partners and field teams to refine MRV methodologies.
  • Identify and contract MRV service providers, ensuring effective collaboration.
  • Monitor the integrity and quality of collected data, providing technical support.
  • Enhance MRV processes to improve adaptive management of LENs interventions.
  • Support reporting and communication efforts to funders, partners, and regulatory bodies.
  • Contribute to knowledge-sharing and continuous learning, refining monitoring tools and methodologies.

Your first year with us:

Within three months, you will:

  • Develop a strong understanding of Preferred by Nature’s regenerative agriculture strategy and LENs program.
  • Familiarize yourself with existing MRV frameworks, digital tools, and key stakeholders.
  • Support the initial deployment of MRV procedures at farm level.

Within six months, you will:

  • Take ownership of MRV implementation across projects.
  • Provide technical guidance to MRV service providers and field teams.
  • Monitor data quality, integrity, and tracking of key performance indicators.
  • Contribute to the improvement of MRV methodologies and tools.

Within twelve months, you will:

  • Lead MRV activities across multiple project sites, ensuring consistency in reporting and learning.
  • Collaborate with consortium partners to scale and refine MRV strategies.
  • Represent Preferred by Nature in industry forums, technical groups, and policy discussions.
  • Provide technical inputs to grant proposals, impact reports, and program strategy

Important that you:

  • Have a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Agronomy, Statistics, Data Science or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience in monitoring, evaluation, and reporting within agriculture, sustainability, or environmental projects.
  • Experience with remote sensing technologies, GIS tools, and soil health assessment.
  • Proficiency in statistical tools (e.g., R, Python, SPSS, Stata)
  • Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret large datasets.
  • Able to translate complex data into clear reports and actionable insights
  • Excellent collaboration skills, with experience working in multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Familiarity with MRV frameworks for carbon sequestration, soil health, and biodiversity monitoring.
  • Ability to work independently, problem-solve, and drive improvements in MRV systems.
  • Have solid understanding of regenerative agriculture and sustainability metrics
  • Fluent in English, both written and spoken
  • Strong proficiency in MS Office programs.

Would also be great, but not necessary, if you:

  • Knowledge of AI applications in data analysis
  • Have experience in digital tools for sustainability monitoring.
