As the world enters an era of strategic competition, Anduril is committed to bringing cutting-edge autonomy, AI, computer vision, sensor fusion, and networking technology to the military in months, not years.

ABOUT THE JOB

This position involves working in a multi-disciplinary environment on the analysis and testing of optomechanical and electronic systems. We are interested in candidates that are excited to work on new projects from conceptualization through production and are passionate about developing validated and correlated models to support the rapid prototyping of cutting edge systems.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Execute hand calculations, spreadsheet, and MATLAB/Python first-order models to inform path forward before jumping into detailed analysis. Use first principles as a basis for every decision and discern the right level of analysis to apply based on state of hardware design and program goals
  • Develop appropriate computational models and simulations to predict stress distribution, deformation, fracture, and fatigue life as needed to meet design schedules. Generate, maintain, and correlate integrated FEMs for imaging platforms.
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to develop structural, thermal, and optical performance (STOP) models for high performance imaging systems.
  • Develop internal tools and prepare technical reports to present findings to internal teams, management, and external customers
  • Work closely with environmental test engineers to support the design, instrumentation selection, execution, and data processing of tests to validate models and predictions, including static, dynamic, and fatigue tests
  • Stay current with advancements in stress analysis techniques, materials technology, and industry standards

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum BS in an engineering discipline
  • 5+ years of experience in a structures, dynamics, or loads related role with high ownership and accountability for hardware outcomes
  • 3+ years of experience with analysis of optomechanical systems including design of athermalized systems and development of structural, thermal, and optical performance (STOP) models
  • Experience with performing stress, strain, fatigue and fracture analysis in support of customer requirements sell-off, including airworthiness certification
  • Deep understanding of statics, dynamics, mechanics of materials, and materials properties
  • Proficiency in FEA software (ANSYS, Abaqus, NASTRAN) solution sequences for linear and non-linear static and buckling analyses, modal analysis, frequency response, and random response analyses
  • Structural testing experience (static, buckling, cyclic) including sensor selection, data acquisition, and data post-processing
  • Proficiency in Matlab or Python (or equivalent) for developing analytical models, data acquisition, and automation
  • Highly motivated, self-starting, results oriented, and capable of working in a dynamic environment
  • Very organized and willing to establish scope and requirements for ill-defined problems
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with space system dynamics analysis and testing, including force limiting and pyroshock
  • Proficiency with Femap and NASTRAN
  • Experience with structural analysis of PCBAs
  • Advanced Degree (Masters or PhD)
