AIA Labs is an in-house venture at Bridgewater Associates that is focused on using AI (Artificial Intelligence) to generate returns in markets. Its goal is to develop capabilities that enhance Bridgewater’s existing strategies as well as to manage a dedicated AI strategy for clients. Bridgewater’s AIA Labs is combining a broad set of AI tools (de-optimized tabular data models, reasoning tools, and LLMs) using proprietary techniques developed in-house to build an AI-based Reasoning Engine capable of performing fundamental, systematic investment research.
About the Role
The Full Stack Engineer sits at the intersection of Investment, Data Science and AI and will partner directly with our investment and research professionals prototyping products to ultimately guide the future of AIA Lab’s products. This person will interact directly with, and fundamentally understand, users and their goals to then translate those needs into technical products. This Sr. Full Stack Engineer will work with both front end and backend technologies to rapidly design, build, iterate and prototype functional working products end to end.
You Will Drive the Following Responsibilities
- Design and develop prototype applications using modern technologies across the full stack.
- Collaborate with end users (Investors and Research Scientists) to deliver high impact prototypes to guide future production-ready products.
- Partner with other engineers within the Technology division of AIA Labs team to quickly get prototypes into production.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and techniques to drive continuous improvement for AIA’s engineering practices.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in a technically rigorous/elite environment with modern full stack technologies.
- Programming and framework experience with backend technologies such as Python and Node.js; front end technologies such as React, Typescript, Next.js, CSS, Tailwind or similar; and cloud platform experience with AWS in particular.
- Experience using generative AI in your craft (Cursor, Windsurf, Claude Code, v0, or similar.), to incorporate additional AI techniques in your D2D work.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to flexibly collaborate with key stakeholders ranging from investors, to scientists, to engineers.
- Interest in the intersection of Investment and AI. A background in FinTech highly preferred.
Location Requirements
The anticipated onsite requirement for this role is four days per week at our New York City campus.
Compensation Band
The compensation range for this role is $500,000 to $750,000 inclusive of base salary, discretionary bonus, and long-term incentive. The expected base salary for this role is between 40-66% of the range.
