About the Role
We are seeking a skilled Power BI Developer to join our team. As a Power BI developer, your primary role will be to deliver business intelligence services, lead BI software development, and present Power BI reports. You will transform raw data into cohesive, valuable reports capturing meaningful business insights. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective reports and dashboards.
Roles and responsibilities
- Designing and developing Power BI reports and dashboards to meet the business stakeholders’ needs
- Gathering and understanding business requirements for data visualization and analysis
- Collaborating with data engineers and analysts to acquire, clean, and transform data for reporting purposes
- Creating complex DAX calculations and measures to support data analysis Ensuring data security and compliance with best practices
- Troubleshooting and resolving issues in Power BI reports
- Providing training and support to end users on using Power BI
- Keeping up to date with the latest Power BI features and trends
Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 4-5 years of data warehouse development experience preferred, with 5+ years of SQL development and data warehousing experience, and a proven track record of delivering production-grade data pipelines in a cloud environment.
- 3+ years of experience in architecting, designing, developing, and implementing cloud solutions in Azure data services (Data Lake Storage, Data Factory, Synapse, etc.).
- Experience with Azure-based BI solutions such as Azure SQL, Azure Synapse, Data Factory, Blob Storages, and Data Lakes.
- Proficiency in data integration and ETL/ELT tools, preferably in an Azure environment.
- Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques, including star and snowflake schemas.
- Programming skills in SQL Server and MS BI (SSIS/SSRS/SSAS).
- Advanced knowledge of SQL, including query optimization, row level security, indexing strategies and Dynamic Data Masking (DDM).
- Experience with Power BI in building self-serve BI solutions, canned reports, and enterprise-level BI solutions.
- Strong DAX skills for creating complex measures and calculated columns.
- Experience in designing slowly changing dimensions.
- Knowledge of healthcare data standards and regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and prior experience with healthcare data is highly preferred.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into effective datasets that drive strategic decision-making.
- Monitor and fine-tune business intelligence tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Experience with Python is a plus.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team and independently.
- Relevant certifications (e.g., Microsoft Certified: Data Analyst Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate, Microsoft Certified: Power BI, etc.) are a plus.
