As a Data Scientist at xAI, you’ll be responsible for understanding data and metrics around our systems and users. You will shape product and research teams development by understanding how our AI products are impacting users and identifying new opportunities. You will partner with teams to prioritize what to build and set goals.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and maintain data pipelines and models to decode user behavior and system performance.
  • Partner with product and research teams to define key metrics and events that drive decision-making.
  • Tackle complex challenges in data tracking, event nuances, and statistical analysis.
  • Lead hypothesis development, design experiments, and apply quantitative rigor to validate ideas.
  • Translate data insights into clear, actionable recommendations for teams and leadership.

Who You Are

  • Experienced with high-volume event data and large-scale data infrastructure.
  • Skilled at modeling consumer behavior and drawing meaningful conclusions.
  • Meticulous in understanding data—what it says, and how to wield it effectively.
  • Energized by creating consumer products that push the boundaries of technology.

Tech Stack

  • Required: Python, SQL
  • Familiarity with: GCP, Postgres, microservices architecture

Interview Process

After submitting your application, the team reviews your CV and statement of exceptional work. If your application passes this stage, you will be invited to a 15 minute interview (“phone interview”) during which a member of our team will ask some basic questions. If you clear the initial phone interview, you will enter the main process, which consists of 1 technical interview, 1 data modeling interview, and 1 project deep-dive interview:

  1. Practical coding assessment in a language of your choice.
  2. Data modeling: Demonstrate a complete understanding of statistics and the scientific method.
  3. Project deep-dive: Present and answer questions about exceptional work that you’ve done.
  4. Meet and greet with the wider team.

Our goal is to finish the main process within one week. Final interviews will be conducted in person.

Annual Salary Range

$180,000 - $440,000 USD
