Huawei is a leading global provider of information and communications technology (ICT) infrastructure and smart devices.Huawei's Vienna Research Center is responsible for advanced magnetic technology research, material and process development, design and strategic engineering of our magnetic component.
We focus on the development of soft magnetic materials, permanent magnetic materials, rotating magnetic materials and components which applied in Huawei's ICT products including power supply, wireless communication, etc. Through insight into global magnetic technologies and independent research, we aspire to explore and make breakthroughs in fundamental theories and technologies e.g., computation and simulation, formula design, molding process, etc.
Now we are looking for a:
Intern – Power Electronics/Magnetic Simulation (m/f/d) for at least 6 months
Key tasks:
- Magnetic Field Modeling & Simulation: Perform detailed 2D/3D magnetic field simulations using industry-standard software tools (e.g., COMSOL, ANSYS Maxwell, Opera, or similar) to analyze and optimize the design of electromagnetic components and systems
- Design & Optimization: Design and optimize magnetic components such as, coils, inductors, transformers, based on simulation results, ensuring performance and efficiency
- Data Analysis & Reporting: Analyze simulation data, generate detailed reports, and present findings to the engineering team
- Prototyping & Testing Support: Collaborate with hardware engineers and prototype teams to validate simulation results with physical testing and assist in troubleshooting and resolving any discrepancies between simulated and measured data
- Tool Development & Automation: Develop custom simulation tools, scripts, and workflows to automate and streamline the simulation process for efficiency and consistency
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Applied Mathematics, or a related field
- Experience:
- Experience with magnetic simulation software such as COMSOL, ANSYS Maxwell, CST, Opera, or similar
- Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) and other numerical techniques for electromagnetic modeling
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of electromagnetic theory, magnetostatics, and electromagnetics
- Familiarity with design and optimization of magnetic components (motors, sensors, transformers, etc.)
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) for automating simulations and data analysis
- Experience with multi-physics simulations that involve thermal, mechanical, and electrical
- Understanding of power electronics fundamentals is a plus
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Fluency in written and spoken English
