DevOps Engineer

As a DevOps Engineer, you will leverage AWS core services (EC2, S3, VPC, IAM) and tools like ECS, Lambda, and Kinesis to optimize cloud infrastructure. You'll automate environments using Terraform and CloudFormation, manage Linux servers, and develop scripts in bash, PowerShell, TypeScript, and Golang. You’ll work with Docker, AWS CloudWatch, and monitoring tools, build and maintain CI/CD pipelines, and implement TestOps practices. Additionally, you'll ensure security, manage both SQL and NoSQL databases, and explore AI/ML to enhance automation and operations.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Profound understanding of AWS core services, including EC2, S3, VPC, and IAM, along with experience in Elastic Container Service (ECS), Kinesis, API Gateway, and Lambda. This core competency ensures the candidate can leverage the full potential of AWS for DevOps practices.
  • Strong proficiency in using Terraform and CloudFormation for infrastructure automation, critical for creating reproducible and scalable cloud environments.
  • Administration experience in Linux (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu) as a server platform.
  • Demonstrated ability in scripting with bash, shell, and PowerShell. Experience in programming with TypeScript and Golang, with the ability to write SQL scripts for database management and operations. Experience with serverless architectures is a plus.
  • Practical knowledge of Docker and Experience with AWS ECS for managing and scaling containerized applications.
  • Experience in configuring and using AWS CloudWatch, New Relic, and Splunk, alongside AWS Kinesis for real-time data streaming and analytics.
  • Understanding of TestOps practices alongside CI/CD pipeline development, emphasizing automation, testing, and deployment best practices.
  • Familiarity with the application of machine learning and artificial intelligence to optimize DevOps processes, improve automation, and enhance predictive capabilities in operations.
  • Experience with database services, both SQL and NoSQL and the ability to write efficient SQL scripts for data manipulation and reporting.
  • In-depth knowledge of networking and security principles, particularly in a cloud environment, ensuring secure and efficient configurations.
  • Ability to learn rapidly, work collaboratively in teams, and manage multiple projects with varying priorities. Even at a junior to mid-level, demonstrating a proactive approach and the ability to contribute significantly to team goals is valued.
  • Proficiency in Python and experience with using scripting to automate tasks.
  • Proven background in an enterprise IT environment, with a focus on collaboration with infrastructure and application teams.
  • Understanding of SDLC and CI/CD best practices.
  • Knowledge of Apache Kafka, and Azure (not required, but beneficial).

Responsibilities:

  • Implement, manage, and optimize AWS services, including core services and specialized offerings like Kinesis, SageMaker, API Gateway, and Lambda.
  • Utilize Terraform and CloudFormation to automate infrastructure provisioning and ensure it meets the company's standards for scalability and security.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines, integrating TestOps practices to ensure high-quality and reliable deployment processes.
  • Create and maintain scripts in bash, shell, PowerShell, and SQL to automate deployment, management tasks, and database operations.
  • Manage containerized applications using Kubernetes and ECS, optimizing for performance and cost.
  • Configure and utilize monitoring tools like CloudWatch and Splunk, employing Kinesis for data streaming to support operational intelligence.
  • Explore and integrate machine learning and AI tools or practices where applicable to enhance DevOps processes, from predictive analytics to automation improvements.
  • Manage database services, ensuring performance, availability, and security. Develop and maintain API services with API Gateway and Lambda for serverless architectures.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to support infrastructure needs, advocate for DevOps best practices, and continuously update skills to keep pace with industry advancements.
