Virgin Media is immersed in a journey to transform our Digital capability by using data at its core. To support this, we are in the process of migrating our on-premise data infrastructure to on cloud, and improving the way in which we provide relevant insights and automated operations.

You will work with the data science and platforms teams to build back-end data products to enable our teams. This is a newly created function, supporting the data science and platform teams, building, and deploying data products. These data products are some of Virgin Media O2’s most important - helping us manage network quality, decide how to optimally upgrade our network, and provide a great experience for customers when things don’t go to plan.

The individual should be someone passionate for software development, particularly historically focused on delivering data products to production. We need someone with a strong bias for action and problem solving. We are looking for someone with a strong passion for building data products, enjoys working in an agile environment with mixed disciplines of data science, product, analytics and engineering.

The must haves

To be considered for this role, you must have the following experience:

• Proven Experience with Python with the ability to write clean, efficient, and scalable code.
• Strong understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) processes, including version control (Git), automated testing, continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD), and code review best practices.
• Demonstrable experience of API design and development, including RESTful and/or GraphQL APIs.
• Hands-on experience working with large datasets and the challenges they present, such as performance optimization, parallel processing, and distributed computing.
• A solid grasp of cloud computing principles, including experience with platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.

The other stuff we are looking for

We’d also love it if you bring:

• Familiarity with infrastructure automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, or Ansible to manage cloud resources effectively.
• Any exposure to machine learning, AI, or MLOps, particularly in integrating ML models into production systems.
• Experience working in Agile teams, participating in sprint planning, and engaging with stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
