Lecturer or Clinical Professor, Management Information Systems

The College of Business at the University of Montana is seeking to fill a lecturer or clinical professor position in Management Information Systems with a concentration in Data Analytics with an August 2025 start date.  The successful candidate will be expected to teach at both undergraduate and master’s levels, with classes in-person and online, and engage in professional and service activities. We will consider applicants with either a practitioner or academic background. We expect this position to be 0.8 FTE.

Qualifications

• For Clinical Professor:  Ph.D. in MIS or a closely related discipline (e.g., CIS, Data Science) from an AACSB accredited university
• For Lecturer Position:  Masters in MIS or a closely related discipline (e.g., CIS, Data Science, Business Analytics, Data Analytics) from an AACSB accredited university with work experience in the field
• Teaching experience or interest in at least two of the following areas: Business Intelligence, Python, Data Analytics, Machine Learning, Data Engineering, Text Mining, Streaming Analytics, and Data Governance
• Recent, relevant professional experience in Data Analytics in Candidate must be available to teach some in-person classes on our Missoula, Montana campus
• Teaching experience or interest in teaching some classes fully asynchronous online
• Teaching quality demonstrated by recent teaching evaluations and/or awards (preferred)
• Demonstrated commitment to serving the needs of a wide range of student (preferred)
• Demonstrated ability to engage with the business community (preferred)
• Excellent written and oral communication skills (preferred)
• Willingness to work with student groups (e.g., data analytics student competitions, data analytics student interest groups, recruiting events with employers) (preferred)
