The agency manages more than 170 projects in 21 countries. One of these projects is the Junior Programme, a real professional springboard and a promoter of global awareness. It has been running since 2006.   

Its aim is twofold: to promote sustainable international solidarity by recruiting young European talent and enabling them to develop their skills abroad. 

 

Junior Programme 

With this vision in mind,  the Junior Programme defines itself as a "talent spotter" and a "career booster".  

Through their experience talents develop the competences to actively and sustainably engage in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. The Junior Programme aims to make them active and critical global citizens who are committed to the SDGs.  

 The Junior Experts work minimum 1 and maximum 2 years in an Enabel project  or in a project of one of the Non-governmental organisations (NGO) that are affiliated with the Junior Programme.   

The Junior Programme only accepts young people of maximum 30 years old.

Context

The bilateral portfolio for Uganda focuses on two pillars: skills and jobs, and social services (health and education). In addition, Enabel Uganda is implementing the Social Protection portfolio.

 

The objectives of the activities are

• The right to safe and quality education and health care is more transparently ensured, in particular for vulnerable groups including children, girls and women, and refugees.  
• Young people and women develop into active, economically independent citizens in a sustainable society that respects human rights and ensures quality basic services.  

 

The JE will work in the Support Service Hub of Uganda which cover the following areas: Contracts, Logistics, Finance and IT. The term Hub is used because, on the one hand, a single unit provides services to the different programmes of a country or region, and on the other hand, each unit is connected to the network that brings together all the support services (country and global/Bxl). 

 

Job description

The Junior Expert in Data Analysis will analyse and improve contracts and logistics data with a view to making project and programs data more qualitive, accessible and client oriented. He/she will actively promote a data driven culture and provide the necessary evidence to support management decisions. Therefor he/she will implement digital solutions to improve logistics and contracting. With his energy, skills, and organization talents, he/she will enhance SSH service quality, the employee skills, team efficiency, and data reliability. He/she will also be key in contributing in the SS4R initiatives related to his function. 

Profile

Required training/degree (eliminatory on CV): 
Master or Professional Bachelor’s Degree:

All profiles 

 

Required specific knowledge (eliminatory on CV): 

• Professional experience in building or maintaining Business Intelligence systems (min. 3 months) AND
• Professional experience in the different aspects of BI: data warehousing and data visualisation & analysis (min. 3 months). 

 

Preferred assets (not eliminatory on CV): 

-    Knowledge of data modelling techniques (e.g. Kimball facts & dimensions)
-    Understanding of REST API principle
-    Experience with cloud solutions
 

Language skills: 

English (working language) 

Dutch: basic knowledge (level A2)

Selection criteria and stages

The selection of the applicant for each job opening is made in 5 eliminatory stages. 

Step 1 - Screening of CVs 

We check that you meet the admission requirements by 2 April 2025  

1. Hold Belgian nationality or be a citizen of a member state of the European Economic Union or the Swiss Confederation. 

2. Born after 2 April 1994. 

3. Respect the specific criteria related to the job (diploma, experience, languages, etc.); 

Step 2 – Written test 

You are invited to do several online psycho-technical tests; 

Step 3 - Oral test in the form of a motivational interview (online) 

We will check your motivation to participate in the Junior Programme on the one hand and on your motivation for the  specific functions for which you have applied on the other hand; 

Step 4 - Oral test in form of Assessment Center (face-to-face) 

During a group exercise followed by an individual interview, you will be evaluated on 5 skills considered essential to succesfully fulfil the mission of a Junior Expert. 

Step 5 - Interview with the field project team (online) 

During this last step, the project team will go a bit deeper into the technical skills and experience for the job of each candidate and check whether you fit in the team. They will take the ultimate decision on which candidate to recruit.
