Data Strategy Group
Data Strategy Group (DSG) harnesses and leverages on GIC’s most valuable asset – Data, to drive insights, results and solve real business challenges. We ingest, analyse, and combine data with context across all industries and asset classes to enable investment decisions and enhance investment process. Together, we strive to build a high-performance enterprise data infrastructure, create results-driven approach with data products and strive to be a data-driven organization.
Enterprise Data Architecture
You will help to design and supervise GIC’s enterprise data architecture to ensure data can meet both current and future business needs, and stays aligned with technology and business architecture.

You will strive to build a high-performance enterprise data infrastructure, and create a results-driven approach with data products.
What will you do as a AVP/VP, Data Modeler?
- Define and create Enterprise Data Models (Conceptual, Logical and Physical) that enables to determine how various entities are related and develop entity relationship diagrams that represent the connection among entities for multiple domains
- Test the model with different scenarios, optimize the model for performance and future use cases
- Maintain the metadata, mapping document and versioning of the model
- Lead the workshops and work with several business, middle office and back office units to map out the requirements for highly interconnected and huge multi-domain data relationship for Investment Management’s MDM and DWH Architecture
- Create, review and establish enterprise standards, principles, guidelines and procedures for Enterprise Data Modelling design and maintenance, and design incremental plans to move from current to target state
- Engage and partner with multiple department stakeholders to understand the overall data flows, architecture, data lifecycle, data management, engineering and Ops while creating Enterprise data models
- Ensure usage of data models, centrally track and measure the use of Data Models across the enterprise
What qualifications or skills should you possess in this role?
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer science, information technology or similar field
- 5-7 years of proficient hands-on experience on data modelling and architecture
- Demonstratable experience in Data Modelling for Data Warehousing such as Dimension Modeling, and Multi-domain MDM systems. Transactional system design is a plus. SME in data modelling is a must have.
- Strong communication and people engagement skills to interact with stakeholders, senior management, business end-users, data analysts and vendors to design and develop solutions
- Experience with data normalisation, RDBMS databases such as Oracle, MS-SQL or MySQL
- Good working knowledge of Advanced SQL, data modeling, modelling methodologies technique, data profiling, data designing and tools – Erwin or ER Studio, etc.
- Must have experience and/or certification in one or more areas:
- Wealth Management, Investment Management firm or Investment Banking with strong exposure to Front, Middle and Back Office
- Market risk certification, FRM, CFA and equivalent
