Summary

The Risk Analyst supports the organization regarding all aspects of the enterprise risk management program. Responsibilities include facilitating the identification of risks, performing qualitative and/or quantitative risk assessment and treatment of risks across all business units. Composing effective risk communication tools to share with the business units, executives and the Board of Directors. Perform special assignments as directed by management.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Economics, Mathematics, Sciences, Statistics, Data Science, Engineering, or Finance
  • and 2 (two) years' related professional level experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been acquired.
  • Requires strong analytic and problem-solving skills and, above all, an attention to detail. 
  • Current experience in utility operations preferred. 
  • Proficient computer skills including a thorough knowledge and applied use of Microsoft Office.  

 

Preferred Skills, Knowledge, or Qualifications 

  • Under supervision, the Risk Analyst candidate must have the ability to perform risk modeling using @Risk and/or other statistical tools, have proficiency in Matlab, Python and/or VBA.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and develop analytics and statistical models of risk. 

Major Accountabilities

1) Perform analytics around collateral exposure, cash positions, market stresses, liquidity and credit risk with a detailed understanding of existing thresholds related to different counterparties and APS

2) Development and maintenance of commodity forward curves and volatility models

3) Measure and back-test commodity hedging effectiveness

4) Able to perform liquidity and credit risk estimated for our portfolio of commodity trades for both price and credit uncertainty 

5) Perform stochastic analysis to model price, load, and intermittent generation risk using production cost models 

6) Use @Risk and/or other risk modeling tools to model risk exposure for various business scenarios within APS

7) Support model development to extend Enterprise Risk Management business outreach across the enterprise
