Your Responsibilities
As a Senior Data Scientist for John Deere in Moline, IL, you will:
- Work with data sets and perform appropriate analytical methodology to provide insights and decision modeling for the business;
- Create and implement algorithms which manage the data to enable it to be analyzed in an efficient manner;
- Support the communication of derived insights, especially through appropriate visualization techniques;
- Support the identification of the required data sources and work with Data Wranglers and/or IT to implement methodologies to retrieve and use this data;
- Support business management in all matters concerning analytical techniques;
- Support the business transformation of the enterprise through analytics;
- Stay abreast of the latest appropriate analytical techniques and recommend these where needed;
- Explain implementation and usage in business terms;
- Work closely with data governance teams to ensure data is modeled efficiently in order to facilitate the required analytics;
- Apply analytical techniques to prospect for business insights and find patterns in data which could be valuable for the business.
- Up to 20% domestic travel required. Can live anywhere in the U.S. Up to 100% remote work allowed.
What Skills You Need
- 3 years of experience in define data collection needs and work with agricultural producers and their farm management systems to collect
- 1 year of experience in build Machine Learning Models to explore how in-field parameters and climate impact cotton fiber quality
- 3 years of experience in analyze the statistical and geospatial relationship between production and harvest data using ArcGIS, Python and R
- 3 years of experience in use analytics and machine learning to solve real world problems by collecting various data sources including Satellite imageries, weather data and sensor data
Education/Experience
- Master’s degree in Agricultural Engineering or related field plus 3 years related experience.
