We are looking for a Data Management Analyst

 

The Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) team plays a central role in risk oversight for the organization.  It presents team members with the opportunity to work with a wide range of diverse stakeholders and develop collaborative partnerships across business segments and functions.

 

This role reports into the Director, ERM.  To be successful in this role, the incumbent must be detail oriented, adaptable and work well with complexity and ambiguity.  In addition, the individual will need to build strong relationships, work independently in a fast-paced environment, and exercise discretion while managing confidential information.

 

The Data Management Analyst will lead ERM’s core initiatives related to End-User Computing (EUC) & Risk Data Management (RDM) and promote related best practices around the organization.  This role will work closely with all three lines of defence, including compliance and technology functions, to continuously improve the quality and reliability of our key risk data used to facilitate decision making.

 

What you will do: 

  • Maintain and help evolve the Risk Data Management (RDM) framework within Lifeco, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and staying current on industry leading practices.
  • Develop, establish and support on-going processes to monitor, assess and improve risk data quality and reliability by instituting controls over data across the organization, and creating remediation plans when data quality issues are identified.
  • Support reporting on the effectiveness of the RDM framework and manage the annual Risk Policy Attestation (RPA) program as it relates to RDM.
  • Execution of EUC control testing across the company and communicating results with key stakeholders and EUC owners (final report, findings, recommendations etc.).
  • Lead the development and maintenance of the centralized EUC repository including the process of collecting and updating the EUC inventory (SharePoint, Power Apps and Power BI dashboard maintenance).
  • Promoting best practices in EUC asset control documentation in the company as a subject matter expert.

 

What you will bring:

  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in financial services industry with an undergraduate degree in business or related discipline or other professional related qualification.
  • Demonstrated communication and change management skills with the ability to communicate complex issues to technical and non-technical audiences across a variety of functions.
  • Demonstrated experience in data or business strategy with an understanding of how data is used in the business and the importance of governance controls.
  • Highly analytical with strong consulting and problem-solving abilities and the tenacity to identify the root cause of problem.
  • Experience in developing, writing and implementing policies and standards.
  • Demonstrated organizational, planning and interpersonal skills and ability to manage relationships with EUC owners and Data Stewards, and the ability to work well in a cross-functional team.
  • Hands-on experience with different types of tools used for EUCs like Excel, Power BI, Power Apps, Access, Axis, SQL and other tools or automated functions, and ability to learn new platforms and tools quickly.
  • Knowledge of Data Quality Management program, BCBS 239 Principles and their implications for risk data management would also be an asset.

Given the size and scope of our organization, we have the flexibility for this position to be located in the following head office locations: Montreal, Toronto, London, Winnipeg.

The base salary for this position is between  $52,800 - $97,700 annually.  This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).  If you are selected to move forward in our recruitment process, your recruiter will be able to discuss additional details of our total rewards program with you.
