Introduction to team:

The Traveler Business Team has a mission to deliver the most convenient, rewarding, and memorable ways for people to travel and explore the world. This division has responsibility to build and drive the growth of our global consumer business across our Expedia, Hotels.com, Vrbo, and Portfolio brands, and across all our lines of businesses including Hotels, Vacation Rentals, Air, Car, Packages, and Insurtech.

We are looking for an Advanced Data Insight Analyst III to join our Marketing Data Science organization. You will tackle sophisticated analytical and business problems with a focus on using statistics and data analytics to understand and improve the ways we work with marketing partners. In this role, your keen interest in marketing analytics will help us solve tough problems and influence positive change. 

This role will support Seach Marketing Channels (SEM, SEO, Metasearch). We help understand how these channels perform, change and interact with each other. We tackle the meaty, complex issues at the heart of Search. Your work will be used to inform how we operate and optimize these channels supporting channel owners. We apply a wide range of data scientist skillsets; from building data to building models to reporting to deep dives. The team is highly visible to senior leadership at the company in a very exciting space. We are looking for an experienced data science professional to join us! 

In this role, you will: 

  • Extract, integrate, and analyze data from multiple sources to support business insights and model building. 

  • Apply statistical techniques (e.g., regression, A/B testing, ANOVA) and collaborate with ML teams to scale models. 

  • Select appropriate measurement methodologies (e.g., causal impact, multivariate testing) based on business needs. 

  • Engage stakeholders early to clarify objectives and align analytics solutions with decision-making. 

  • Present insights clearly to technical and non-technical audiences, adapting communication as needed. 

  • Write efficient, shareable code, ensuring reproducibility and following best practices for data quality and optimization. 

  • Create impactful visualizations using tools like Tableau, Power BI, charting packages (ggplot, plotly), applying inclusive design principles. 

  • Automate reporting, build scalable dashboards, and empower stakeholders with self-serve analytics tools. 

  • Write and optimize advanced SQL queries across different platforms (Presto, Hive, PostgreSQL, Spark). 

  • Develop and maintain data pipelines, adapting quickly to new tools and methodologies. 

  • Frame complex problems into actionable analytics tasks, proactively identifying and resolving roadblocks. 

  • Stay curious, continuously learning and applying new techniques to improve analytics capabilities. 

 

Experience and Qualifications: 

  • PhD, Master’s, or Bachelor’s (preferably in Mathematics or a scientific field) with 2-4 years of experience, or 4+ years in a comparable data analytics role. 

  • Proven ability to deliver data-driven insights that drive business impact through various analytics techniques. 

  • Advanced proficiency in R, Python, or SQL for data analysis, transformation, and visualization of large datasets. 

  • Experience executing analytics projects across business areas autonomously with strong business acumen. 

  • Strong skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder influence. 

  • Proficiency in statistics, SQL, Python, R, and data visualization for diverse audiences. 

  • Understanding of business acumen and basic machine learning concepts. 

  • Understanding of marketing, returns and search marketing channel dynamics  

The total cash range for this position in Seattle is $137,500.00 to $192,500.00. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $220,000.00, which is the top of the range, based on ongoing, demonstrated, and sustained performance in the role.

Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors, including location, available budget, and an individual’s knowledge, skills, and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
