Marmon is now seeking a Sr. Manufacturing Data Specialist for our Corporate Innovation team to focus on driving factory automation and data adoption across Marmon’s portfolio of 11 industry groups and 120+ manufacturing businesses and helping our manufacturing sites understand what data they should be collecting, how to interpret it, and how to convert insights into actionable improvements using our company’s established toolboxes (e.g., Blue Belt, Automation Engineering, etc.). In addition, this role will significantly contribute to building and maintaining the culture around factory data initiatives and developing a framework for what a successful factory data program looks like.

Join us at our mHUB location in Chicago for a hybrid work environment with 40-60% travel to our various manufacturing sites, or work remotely from a major metro area in the Eastern half of the US with 60-75% travel.

What You’ll Do:

  • Apply industrial engineering principles to analyze and optimize manufacturing operations using data
  • Work with manufacturing teams to identify critical data points that impact efficiency, quality, and cost
  • Guide teams in structuring, analyzing, and interpreting factory data to support lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Develop and implement standard work processes for data collection, visualization, and analysis
  • Collaborate with production teams to streamline workflows using data-driven insights
  • Leverage industrial engineering methodologies and the Marmon Blue Belt process to enhance productivity, reduce waste, and improve decision-making
  • Conduct time studies, capacity analysis, and process modeling to support data-driven improvements
  • Provide hands-on support in data manipulation and refinement to extract meaningful insights for process improvements
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to build data literacy among manufacturing teams
  • Identify gaps in current data practices and propose scalable solutions aligned with industrial engineering best practices
  • Work with IT and automation engineers to align data strategies with factory automation initiatives
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of implemented data-driven improvements and iterate as needed

What You’ll Bring to the Role:

  • ’Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field
  • 5-10 years of experience in manufacturing environments, with a strong understanding of factory operations in an industrial manufacturing setting
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on practical application
  • Familiarity with data analysis concepts
  • Experience with data-driven continuous improvement methodologies (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or similar process improvement frameworks)
  • Superb communication skills to effectively explain data insights to technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Client-facing experience, preferably from an internal or external consulting role
  • Experience implementing complex data systems in multiple scenarios
  • Exposure to factory automation technologies and IoT applications in manufacturing
  • Familiarity with basic data tools (Excel, SQL, Power BI, Python) for data manipulation

Pay Range:

88,000.00 - 132,000.00
