About the Role

Join our Automotive AI Lab as a Data Collection Manager and play a key role in shaping data-driven products at Harman Automotive. In this role, you will ensure that development and validation teams have the right datasets to work with. You will collaborate with data users to analyze requirements and define specifications for engineering and labeling teams. You will oversee data collection preparation and execution at our main site in Bangalore and ensure timely delivery.

What You Will Do

  • Lead data collection activities in our location in Bangalore and in other locations in India
  • Coordinate vehicle/lab hardware/software data collection setup
  • Define working packages for internal resources and external vendors, e.g., extension of software/hardware setup or execution of data collection
  • Execute, supervise, and report data collection activities in accordance with the approved specifications
  • Lead our labeling team, prepare and clarify labeling specifications , optimize our labeling process, supervise proper execution of data pre-/postprocessing and labeling steps
  • Work with the data consumers, analyze and document data collection requirements, lead data collection concept development and preparation process
  • Perform QA and provide feedback on data quality to other team members and management
  • Work with legal and compliance team to ensure all data collection activities are performed per local data privacy laws

What You Need

  • Master’s Degree or higher in computer science, electrical engineering or similar qualification
  • 8+ years’ experience managing teams of engineering technicians preferably in the information technology industry
  • Extended understanding of sensor and data management hardware
  • Understanding of computer vision and machine learning
  • Experience with Atlassian Jira and Confluence
  • Knowledge of CI/CD concepts and experience with tools (Jenkins etc.)
  • Ability to work with incomplete technical information
  • Strong organizational and management skills, with an ability to operate in a rapidly changing environment.
  • Strong attention to detail and to quality.

What is Nice to Have

  • Experience in developing scripts (e.g., in Python) for general data processing
  • Experience with hardware assembly and maintenance including sensors and actuators (e.g. PCs, Cameras, Motors)
  • Experience with large scale data collection
  • Ability to identify ways to improve data reliability, efficiency, and quality
  • Experience with CI tools

What Makes You Eligible

  • Be willing to travel up to 10%, domestic and international travel
  • Be willing to work in an office in Bangalore 
  • This position requires the use of a HARMAN or customer-owned vehicle.  As such, any offer of employment will be contingent upon having a clean driving record, which will be evaluated and determined in HARMAN’s sole discretion.
