About the Role
This position is within Harman International located in Bangalore, India. In this position you will have a responsibility to
lead Functional Safety (FuSa) Test of safety-critical software components in compliance with ASIL-D standards. This position will be responsible for defining and implementing test strategies, ensuring adherence to ISO 26262 and other relevant safety standards. The ideal candidate will have expertise in functional safety testing, particularly in Infotainment Systems, and a strong expertise in Network Switch, Network management, Network diagnostics and S2R. You will lead cross-functional teams, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to high-quality test execution across the entire system.
What You Will Do
- Lead and oversee Functional Safety (FuSa) test solutions in compliance with ASIL-D standards, ensuring that all safety-critical components meet industry regulations and safety requirements.
- Define and implement test strategies for safety-critical software components, ensuring that test plans address safety requirements and risk assessments according to ISO 26262 and other safety standards.
- Must have working experience and knowledge in low level / API testing, white box testing, and black box product testing focusing on the test process areas such as System Qualification test, System integration test, Software integration test and Software qualification testing.
- Must be able to clearly differentiate between QM feature testing and ASIL feature testing.
- Able to understand the FuSA documentation such as HARA, DFMEA, FMEDA, SWFMEA, Functional Safety Plan, Technical Safety Concept
- Must be able to develop test scenarios based on the FFI, Common Cause Failures, Dependent failures, and Latent Failures
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, hardware, design, and validation teams) to plan and execute safety testing activities. Ensure alignment on safety goals and deliverables throughout the product lifecycle.
- Mentor and guide test engineers on functional safety testing methodologies, best practices, and tool usage. Provide leadership in ensuring that testing approaches comply with functional safety standards.
- Leverage your understanding of Infotainment Systems, and domains like CAN, UDS, vehicle functions, media, audio, and tuner systems. Quickly ramp up on the entire end-to-end testing perspective, including software architecture and hardware aspects.
- Automate safety test cases using Python to increase efficiency and consistency in testing processes.
- Conduct detailed analysis of reported problems, perform bug analysis, and track the verification of defects. Ensure quality by participating in reviews and coordinating efforts to resolve issues effectively.
- Ensure the KPIs defined by leadership are consistently met and work with teams to continuously improve testing processes, reducing test cycles, and improving quality.
What You Need
- Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Experience:
- 10+ years of experience in testing methodologies on Infotainment ECU.
- Strong expertise in ASIL-D testing and ISO 26262 compliance.
- Experience with HiL/SiL/MiL testing for embedded systems.
- Technical Skills:
- Good knowledge on Software Integration Test (SWIT) and System Integration Test (SYSIT).
- Good knowledge of CAN/LIN Communication Protocols and UDS Diagnostics Protocol.
- The candidate must have test design and execution experience in Network Switch, Network management, Network diagnostics and S2R.
- Familiarity with Diagnostics Over IP (DoIP) and Vector Tools like CANoe and configuration tools.
- Programming in CAPL scripting is a must.
- Hands-on experience in Python for test automation.
- Experience using requirement management tools such as DOORS and DNG.
- Methodologies and Standards:
- Familiar with Agile development methodologies and Test-Driven Development.
- Hands-on experience with projects practicing ASPICE standards and processes.
- Communication Skills:
- Fluent in both written and spoken English, with strong communication skills to collaborate effectively across teams and stakeholders.
