Software Engineer – Usage Team, Genesys Cloud  

Department & Team: Genesys Cloud Usage Team  

At Genesys we are on a mission to create the category called Experience as a Service. We build products to enable companies to connect with their clients via multiple channels (voice, video, social, etc…), and to provide context during these engagements, making these connections meaningful, fast, and memorable. We do this via a SaaS (Software as a Service) product called Genesys-Cloud, which supports millions of users making billions of API (application programming interfaces) calls daily, enabling around 2B minutes of phone calls monthly, and hosting ~100B interactions yearly.

Our Usage Team traverses this data to support billing with the appropriate insights, and to provide usage analytics for our company’s executives. This team is looking for a Software Engineer who can help them on their journey to support the growing needs of usage and adoption metrics both by internal and external customers. 

As a Successful Software Engineer at Genesys, you will:  

• Participate in development initiatives that will have impact across the various development organizations of Genesys Cloud.  

• Operate as part of a team executing against the team’s shared goals. 

• Consulting with senior members of our team to align with design decisions  

• Contribute to the implementation of features, working closely with senior team members and leaders to gather information, analyse data, and provide insights to inform decision-making.  

• Writing and maintaining tests for features, while collaborating closely with QA to ensure the quality and reliability of the product.  

• Stay current with industry developments and current trends  

• Creating and maintaining documentation of your work and communicating effectively with team members and other stakeholders  

• You will work in a fast-paced culture, where our environment is one of continuous change, innovation, and experimentation.  

• Build experience in AWS technologies to build scalable and secure services  

• Have an ability to learn new technologies quickly and apply knowledge to solve complex problems.  

• Demonstrate a high level of curiosity and keep up to date on emerging trends. 

Minimum Requirements:  

• Ideally, a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or related disciplines. However, this is not a hard requirement as we recognise there are many diverse paths into software careers. 

• 2+ years of experience with one of the following programming languages: Java, Python or Scala. 

• Demonstrated experience in designing, developing, and maintaining services with RESTful APIs.  

• An understanding of database concepts, including relational databases, and proficiency in SQL.  

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, GCP, or Azure. 

• Proficient in using version control tools and processes, with a preference for Git.  

• Ability to effectively troubleshoot and debug software issues, with a focus on root cause analysis and efficient problem-solving.  

• Ability to write clean, efficient, and well-documented code that adheres to industry best practices and coding standards.  

• Strong collaboration and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively in a cross-functional environment. 

Desirable Requirements: 

• We work a lot with AWS technologies to build scalable and secure services. Familiarity with AWS including experience in deploying and managing applications and services would be advantageous. (Ec2, S3 buckets, Lambdas, Cloudwatch, Kinesis, Athena and Glue) 

• Familiarity with ETL processes and data formats (e.g., Avro, Parquet, JSON). 

• A background in data engineering would be beneficial.
