Student Software Engineer

We are looking for a Student Software Engineer Werkstudent who is interested in creating user-friendly VoiceAI products using C++. You will learn and use the most advanced technologies in the fields of natural language processing (NLP), natural language understanding (NLU), natural language generation (NLG), speech technologies, and search technologies… all built in-house at SoundHound. Prior experience in these specialized fields is not required.

In this role, you will:

• Apply Large Language Models to improve VoiceAI behavior
• Contribute to the core system as well as to the testing tools
• Design and drive software testing and QA
• Write code that interacts with web APIs
• Collaborate with engineers working on a variety of languages
• Develop Conversational AI, leveraging a powerful domain-oriented development paradigm
• Implement and scale the core code base, solving both algorithmic and design challenges
• Work from a modern office at Potsdamer Platz or remotely from home

We would love to hear from you if:

• You have coding experience in C++ and Python; experience interacting with web APIs is a plus
• You are an avid user of LLM services like Perplexity, ChatGPT, etc. for various tasks
• You are knowledgeable in testing software products
• You are fluent in English; native-level in additional languages is a plus
• You are interested in learning while designing efficient architectures, algorithms, and interfaces
• You enjoy working on open-ended challenges and improving existing solutions
• You’re comfortable working in a Linux environment
• You are a current student at a German University

We’d be especially excited if you have some prior experience with prompt engineering and are well versed using Python and C++ to solve engineering challenges.

This job allows for hybrid and in-office workplace options for employees within a 100-kilometer radius of our Berlin office. The estimated hourly rate for this position (20 hours per week) is €20.00. Our recruiting team will provide a specific hourly rate range based on years of experience.
