We are looking for an Research Fellow to conduct high-quality research and propose cutting-edge solutions to the challenging research problems related to AI modelling and control of water systems. This candidate will contribute to NEWRI’s AI modelling and optimization research for sustainable and resilient operations of water systems.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct high-quality research on machine learning modelling, soft sensing, and optimal control with application to various water systems (e.g., wastewater treatment, desalination, etc.)
Prepare grant proposals and project reports
Program using Python and test theoretical findings via computer simulations
Test the methods via lab experiments
Publish results in top-tier journals in related fields
Assist in mentoring PhD students
Job Requirements:
A PhD degree in control systems engineering, process control, machine learning or a related field.
Knowledge of state-of-the-art machine learning, control theory and methods, optimization, applied mathematics.
Expertise in AI-based modelling, state estimation, model of large-scale uncertain systems, networked control systems, and/or experience in applying machine learning in water systems systems.
Strong programming skills (Matlab, C++ or Python).
An outstanding track record of research in the corresponding field demonstrated by an excellent publication record.
Advanced written and communication skills.
