Job Summary: 

ITS, LLC seeks a highly experienced and energetic Database Engineer  to support the US Space Force, Space Systems Command, in performing operational maintenance and supervision for a 24/7 support capacity at the site of Vandenberg Space Force Base in California. The Database Engineer designs, builds, and maintains database systems, ensuring they are efficient, secure, and scalable. They also focus on data integrity, security, and compliance, often working with data storage and pipelines to prepare data for analysis and machine learning in the DoD. 

Key Responsibilities:

Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop and implement database architectures that meet specific business needs, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
  • Design data models to represent data effectively and efficiently.
  •  Install, configure, and maintain database systems, ensuring optimal performance and availability.
  •  Implement and enforce data security measures, including access controls, encryption, and data backups.
  •  Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, optimize database queries, and improve overall system performance.
  •  Ensure compliance with data governance policies and regulations.
  •  Design, build, and maintain data warehouses and data pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
  •  Work with data analysts, data scientists, and other stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure data quality.
  •  Identify and resolve database issues, ensuring minimal downtime and data loss. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SQL: Proficiency in SQL for database querying, manipulation, and administration. 
  • Database Management Systems (DBMS): Experience with various DBMS, such as MySQL, Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB. 
  • Data Modeling: Knowledge of data modeling techniques and tools. 
  • Data Warehousing and ETL: Experience with data warehousing concepts and ETL processes. 
  • Programming Languages: Familiarity with programming languages like Python, Java, or C#. 
  • Operating Systems: Knowledge of operating systems, such as Linux or Windows. 
  • Cloud Technologies: Experience with cloud database services, such as AWS, Azure, or DISA 
  • Data Security and Compliance: Understanding of data security principles and compliance regulations. 
  • Communication and Collaboration: Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly and collaborate effectively with other teams. 
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

 Education/Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience or Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience 

Clearance Requirement:

  • TS/SCI Clearance Required with possibility of SAP/SAR in future needs

Salary Note:
