The Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellow

The Eric and Wendy Schmidt AI in Science Postdoctoral Fellowship, an initiative funded by Schmidt Sciences aims to accelerate the next scientific revolution by applying AI to research in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). This Fellowship provides an opportunity for early career researchers from Singapore and around the world to pursue an independent research path. This programme will provide access to AI tools and training to the Fellows to develop and use AI in innovative methods to make the world better.

This work will be conducted at the School of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, Nanyang Technological University. The Fellow is expected to:

Key Responsibilities:

• Carry out investigations in critical fields of artificial intelligence and quantum science and quantum engineering.

• Establish collaborations with international experts in artificial intelligence for quantum science and its broader applications.

• Submit progress report to NTU and Schmidt Sciences, stating progress, results and contributions.

• Attend conferences/workshops/seminars organized by NTU and Schmidt Sciences to present research outcomes.

Job Requirements:

• PhD degree in quantum engineering, quantum information, quantum machine learning or a related field.

• Experience in utilizing machine learning techniques for research in quantum science, quantum engineering, and quantum information.

• Proficiency in programming, for example, with Python, PyTorch, Qutip, Qiskit, or similar software.

• Good skills for communicating technical concepts to interdisciplinary scientific audiences and fostering collaborations with international experts. 

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, essential for conducting research and scientific collaboration.

• Skill in quantum machine learning, quantum computing, or reinforcement learning is highly desirable.
