The Sr. Associate, Data Governance Analyst supports data governance, data cataloging, data management, and compliance enforcement efforts on a shared services team within McKesson. This position is responsible for:
Assisting in the integration and governance of data assets
Supporting the definition of data policies, standards, and best practices
Ensuring compliance with regulatory frameworks and security protocols
Collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive data adoption, quality, and governance initiatives
Supporting internal and external audits to ensure data governance practices meet regulatory and compliance standards
This role directly impacts McKesson’s ability to optimize data usage, reduce risks, enhance analytics capabilities, and improve healthcare solutions.
* Candidate must reside in the Irving / Dallas area with the ability to occasionally work at our Irving office. Position supports primarily working from home, with occasional in-office days.

Key Responsibilities:
Data Governance & Data Catalog Management
Assist in the adoption, integration, and governance of data assets from legacy systems, third-party sources, and enterprise applications into our CSI Data Catalog
Support metadata management frameworks, ensuring data consistency, traceability, and standardization
Help define and enforce data governance policies, procedures, and stewardship models
Collaborate with business units, IT teams, data owners, and stewards to enhance data accessibility, usability, and compliance
Implement data lineage tracking and metadata enrichment strategies
Maintain data dictionaries, taxonomies, and business glossaries to support data literacy
Business Analysis & Data Requirements Management
Work closely with business stakeholders, data analysts, and IT teams to translate complex business needs into well-defined data requirements
Develop detailed use cases, process flows, and functional requirements for data initiatives
Bridge the gap between business needs and technical implementation, ensuring seamless data integration, transformation, and reporting
Conduct impact assessments for changes in governance frameworks, and data policies
Support data strategy initiatives by providing insights on data needs, data rights, gaps, and opportunities for improvement
Data Quality, Compliance & Security Standards
Implement data quality control measures, including profiling, cleansing, validation, and monitoring
Establish and maintain data governance KPIs and quality metrics, tracking data integrity, completeness, and accuracy
Ensure alignment with regulatory requirements such as HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, and 21 CFR Part 11, ensuring proper data handling, security, and privacy
Partner with Cybersecurity, Legal, and Compliance teams to mitigate data risks, enforce access controls, and respond to regulatory audits.
Identify and resolve data inconsistencies, anomalies, and policy violations
Perform standard Data Auditing procedures in a timely manner
Incident Response & Risk Management
Collaborate with Cybersecurity and Global Compliance Office (GCO) to monitor, manage, and remediate Data Governance incidents
Respond to data governance violations, security breaches, and compliance issues, implementing corrective actions and preventive measures
Participate in risk assessments, security reviews, and disaster recovery planning related to data governance
Educate teams on data protection best practices and incident response protocols
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
Work across business, IT, and data management teams to align data governance efforts with business priorities
Communicate findings, insights, and recommendations clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences
Minimum Requirement:
Degree or equivalent and typically requires 2+ years of relevant experience
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Management, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field (or equivalent years of experience)
Critical Skills:
2+ years of hands-on experience in Data Governance, Data Management, Business Analysis, or Data Strategy roles
Proven expertise in data cataloging, metadata management, and data quality frameworks
Strong understanding of data governance principles, policies, and regulatory compliance frameworks
Experience with data governance tools such as, Alation or similar platforms
Basic SQL skills and familiarity with data modeling, data warehousing, and ETL processes
Knowledge of data privacy, security controls, and industry regulations (e.g., HIPAA, GDPR, CCPA, SOX, etc.)
Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, and stakeholder management skills
It would be nice if you had:
Experience working with cloud-based data platforms (Azure, Snowflake)
Hands-on experience with data cataloging, classification
