Technical Analytics Lead

SALARY – £55,000 (Dependent on Experience)

LOCATION – Halifax

We’re on the lookout for a Technical Analytics Lead to join our Claims Business Intelligence Team.

This role is based on-site at our Halifax office.  We find that working together in the office increases collaboration and engagement and supports your development too!  

The Claims BI team key purpose is to produce:

  • Accurate and timely reporting to key business stakeholders to understand performance across key metrics and ensure 
  • Data insight and analysis by identifying trends and predictive opportunities for the Claims Management to act where needed.

What will I be doing?

You can expect your role in Claims BI to vary greatly day-to-day. Here’s a taster of some of the work you’d get involved in:

  • Extraction and development of new predictive analysis, algorithms, pattern modelling based on historical data to identify opportunities/insights which enhance business performance.
  • Investigate and identify Claims/Business problems through a range of data preparation, statistical modelling, analysis to provide solutions through appropriate visualizations and analysis.
  • Acquire and maintain an in-depth knowledge of existing Claims BI/wider Business platforms and tools used for analysis and interrogation to develop own scripts/visualisations. Using tools such as Power BI, Data Bricks, Business Objects, SAS, SQL, & Python, Oracle BI, SSRS.
  • Explore and introduce of new tools in the market (e.g. AI) to automate, streamline, and document Claims and Claims BI processes, maximising efficiency over and above core tools.
  • Responsibility of developing the predictive analytics and modelling framework in the Claims BI Team and for the management and career development of your line reports.
  • Undertake other duties over and above those listed in the job description, appropriate to your skills and experience.
  • Take responsibility for managing relevant processes and liaising with relevant stakeholders both within and external to the organisation (e.g. Thatcham)

You should apply if you have…

  • Either a 2:1 bachelors’ degree or better (or equivalent) in an appropriate numerical subject, or equivalent experience.
  • An understanding of General Insurance underwriting principles, and some Pricing experience
  • Experience in a Data Science, Pricing, or Actuarial function
  • Experience of statistical and mathematical techniques, and an understanding of applying these techniques in General Insurance Pricing, risk selection, and analysis
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills, with a keen eye for problem-solving
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to present technical/detailed analysis to both technical and non-technical senior stakeholders
  • Good time management skills and ability to manage others
  • Self-motivated and an ability to work under pressure, both in isolation and within a team
  • Demonstrate our company values and instil these within line reports
  • It’s also desirable to have experience analysing data using Actuarial or analytical techniques
