Duties & Responsibilities
- In your new role, you will closely collaborate with other statisticians and provide statistical-methodological expertise, consultancy, and solutions to complex problems in clinical development with a strong focus on phase IIb and III.
- You will evaluate innovative, complex statistical methods for efficient and effective clinical trial design, analysis and decision making. By prototyping and developing ready-to-use toolkits, you will drive their implementation, and you will lead and support other statisticians in applying these innovative methods to their clinical studies and development programs.
- You will present and quantitively illustrate the application of complex statistical concepts to stakeholders like management, external partners, and/or regulatory agencies.
- You will provide statistical-methodological trainings to statisticians and non-statisticians.
- You will lead cross-functional working groups and contribute to industry collaborations and partnerships with academic experts and opinion leaders.
- You will mentor and guide other colleagues. You will define and supervise the technical and scientific work of interns and students and contribute to their professional journey.
Additional tasks and responsibility of a Senior Principal position:
- On the Senior Principal level, you will plan statistical-methodological consultancy, and provide solutions to complex, partially defined problems with a high level of uncertainty for clinical trials.
- You will identify relevant, innovative statistical methods and initiate their implementation.
- You will plan statistical-methodological trainings and be an active part of learning communities.
- You will lead internal and/or external working groups.
Requirements
- Master of Science (MSc) or Doctoral Degree (PhD) from an accredited institution in Statistics or Mathematics or related field (Psychology, Data Science, Finance, etc.).
- At least five (5) years of experience as a statistician or data scientist.
- Working experience might be compensated by broad and deep topic-specific knowledge, e.g. with respect to statistical methodology.
- Advanced understanding of clinical development.
- Demonstrated, hand-on experience in providing consultation to clinical development teams or planning and conducting experimental designs.
- A proven track record in successfully developing, extending, implementing, and providing training on complex and innovative statistical methodologies and concepts.
- Advanced scientific background in at least one of the following areas: design of experiments, adaptive and enrichment designs, multiplicity and multiple testing, probability of success / assurance, Go/NoGo frameworks and decision making, statistical techniques for portfolio management, and joint modeling.
- Proficiency in statistical software languages (preferably R, Quarto, Shiny) with experience in extending and implementing statistical concepts into ready-to use software.
- Knowledge of advanced concepts regarding data visualization and data storytelling are a plus.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills with a willingness to both: challenge and be challenged.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with and in global teams.
- Fluency in written and spoken English.

Compensation
This position, Principal Statistician, offers a base salary typically between $140,000 and $222,000. The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance-based bonus and or other compensation elements. For an overview of our benefits please click here.
