Role:

M&G, as a major UK listed financial services provider is expected and required to maintain appropriate standards and controls to meet regulatory standards. Reporting to the Head of Global Finance Data, the role of the Global Finance Data Analyst is to provide assistance in developing, implementing and operating processes in the field of data consumption, usage and application of emerging technologies across the global Finance data estate, with specific focus on the identification and management of data risks and issues.

The successful candidate will assist with the following activity as a member of the Finance Data Centre of Excellence.

  • Working within the Finance Data COE including a team of data analyst professionals.

  • Assisting in delivery of data governance and oversight across the global Finance function, and in particular data related policies, standards, risk identification.

  • Assisting in driving activity to improve the ownership, understanding and control of critical data used in Financial Reporting, Liquidity, and Capital Management, delivered via a clear set of standards.

  • Assisting delivering agreed data standards across the global Finance team and building confidence in the quality of critical data, agreeing clear ownership with other Centre of Excellence owners and ensuring only validated data from authorised sources are used throughout the end-to-end process.

  • Assisting in addressing issues impacting data underpinning key processes, ensuring clean, catalogued, and accessible data, and harness data science opportunities.

  • Helping opine and advise on the remediation and continual improvement of inadequate or inefficient processes where root cause analysis concludes that inefficiencies are data driven, including resolving deviation from authorised data.

  • Assisting in the design and implementation of a coherent and robust global Finance Data Architecture, in conjunction with IT, including metadata management for Critical Data Elements identified with clear lineage to Authorised Data Sources and clear controls.

  • Assisting in setting and maintaining the direction of documentation all critical reference data within Finance owned systems and data process across global Finance teams.

  • Assisting the operation of efficient fora and ensure monitoring and reporting of adherence to policies.

  • Assisting the reduction of risk through regular monitoring and evidence of compliance supplied to CFO and Finance Leadership Team.

  • Assisting defining, embedding, developing and maintaining logical data domains, identifying critical data elements, and collecting appropriate metadata.

Key skills, competencies and experience for this role are:

  • An understanding of global Finance data architecture and data usage.

  • Possess an understanding of emerging industry trends across the global Financial Services industry in relation to the management and usage of data and associated technologies.

  • An ability to interpret customer outcomes and financial information, to identify key issues based on this information and to suggest appropriate controls and measures to respond to business and regulatory requirements.

  • An ability to identify, assess, monitor, control and mitigate data related risks to the global Finance function and its customers.

  • An ability to understand and assess the effectiveness of the arrangements to deliver governance, oversight, risk management and a robust control environment across the global Finance function in relation to data consumption and usage.

  • An awareness of the evolving regulatory framework in which the plc operates.

  • High degree of honesty, integrity and discretion.

  • Possess both a strong attention to detail and ability to deliver to complex requirements.

  • Experience of navigating and resolving conflicts.

  • Ability to build effective relationships at all levels across the business, flex interpersonal style accordingly and influence others effectively.

  • Experience in contributing to transformational change to achieve timely, quality, control and cost outcomes in complex Finance functions.

  • Good interpersonal and networking skills, with an ability to articulate complex issues clearly and succinctly to a range of audiences including management and colleagues.

  • Ability to analyse, present results and effectively communicate with the stakeholders across our global sites.
