Overview
The Senior Business Data Analyst will combine business analysis and data analytics expertise to drive data related efforts and optimize business processes. This role is responsible for gathering business requirements, creating data solutions using business empowerment tools as part of supporting strategic initiatives. The successful candidate will act as a bridge between business teams and IT (or other business teams) and will effectively apply data analytics skills to develop solutions that align with business needs.
Key Responsibilities:
Collaborate with stakeholders to understand business needs and objectives; translate them into clear functional and technical requirements, and break them down into epics, features, and stories.
Support testing efforts by defining test cases and validating system functionality.
Develop dashboards, and reports using reporting solutions such as Power BI, etc.
Write and execute data queries to get results needed for analysis, validity and accuracy testing.
Solve business problems with a moderate level of complexity; analyze possible solutions using data analytics expertise and judgement and precedents.
Champion the future vision of the department and assist in citizen development efforts using business empowerment tools including Snowflake, Alteryx, Power BI, etc.
Communicate research and findings clearly and concisely to help leadership prioritize business and data needs effectively.
Candidate Requisites:
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related degree, or equivalent experience.
Minimum 5 years of experience in combined business analyst and data analyst roles or related positions.
Progress towards FLMI or another relevant professional accreditation would be considered an asset
Skills & Abilities
Capability to effortlessly transition between business analyst and data analyst roles as needed.
Intermediate level of knowledge in Agile methodologies and associated tools such as ADO, Jira, etc.
Advanced level of investigative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Detailed oriented, passionate about completing the task correctly.
Advanced oral and written communication skills demonstrating ability to share and impart knowledge.
Ability to liaise with individuals across a wide variety of operation, functional, and technical disciplines.
Proficiency in SQL for data extraction and analysis.
Ability to handle multiple tasks, clients and projects simultaneously; Ability to balance priorities, deadlines, and deliverables.
Willingness to learn new skills, software applications, and business empowerment tools.
Intermediate skills in change management and software development concepts.
Experience in reinsurance or insurance industry is a desired asset.

Compensation Range:
$87,050.00 - $131,450.00 AnnualBase pay varies depending on job-related knowledge, skills, experience and market location. In addition, RGA provides an annual bonus plan that includes all roles and some positions are eligible for participation in our long-term equity incentive plan. RGA also maintains a full range of health, retirement, and other employee benefits.
