Mission

Almirall is a global pharmaceutical company with a focus on Medical Dermatology. Our goal is to develop novel therapeutics to tackle unmet medical need in the fields of immune inflammatory skin diseases, rare skin diseases and non-melanoma skin cancers.

We are seeking a talented candidate for a joint position between our Molecular and Cell Biology (MCB) and Data Sciences teams within Almirall R&D department, based in Barcelona. The candidate will be working directly with experimental biologists and play a crucial role in implementing Almirall scientific data platform. He/she will manage and maintaining the integrity, accessibility, and security of our research data. This position requires a deep understanding of data management principles, biological research, and the ability to collaborate effectively across disciplines.

Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Data management: Develop solutions to ensure the appropriate implementation of standards and methodologies for data management in Research department.
  • Data accessibility: In collaboration with IT, Data Science and experimental research teams, manage data according the FAIR (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) principles.
  • Data Generation: Design assay-specific solutions with experimental researchers to enable the generation of data from a range of assays in the adequate format for automatic upload to scientific data platform. Drive the incremental implementation of a new scientific data platform within Almirall R&D.
  • Data Quality: Design assay-specific solutions with experimental researchers for data quality control and monitoring.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with biologists, bioinformaticians, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and provide support for data-related tasks.
  • Reporting and monitorization: Evaluate the data usage and report compliance and quality control metrics
  • Dissemination/Training: Provide training and support to team members on data management tools and best practices.

Education & Qualifications

• Bachelor’s with 10+ years of experience or Master’s with 5+ years of experience - degree in Biology, Bioinformatics, Data Science.

• Experience in running wet laboratory experiments.

• Proven experience in data management in a biological research setting.

• Strong understanding of data governance, data quality, and data security principles.

• Familiarity with data management tools and software (e.g., R or Python, data visualization tools). SQL knowledge would be a bonus.

• Team player with ability to collaborate and communicate effectively across several scientific disciplines.

• Advanced English level required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS).

• Familiarity with regulatory requirements related to biological data (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA).

• Knowledge of experimental biology techniques and protocols.
