The Role:

Moderna Services, Inc. seeks a Software Development Engineer for its Seattle, Washington location.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

  • On behalf of a global biotechnology company, design and develop artificial intelligence platform.

  • Work closely with product owners to understand business needs and provide engineering solutions to technical problems.

  • Deliver code enhancements for software builds which may include refactoring or deprecating existing code.

  • Develop working code based on given a functional definition of a problem such as the inputs, outputs, and logic, while demonstrating an understanding of the business and customer value of the assigned software.

  • Deliver code successfully with clear instructions from the team and manager, with regular checkpoints including code reviews and daily standup.

  • Separate disparate components from each other and build software with more than one component with guidance from teammates or manager.

  • Understand common tradeoffs among aspects of the code bar such as efficiency versus maintainability.

  • Utilize the core or standard library of programming languages, i.e., Typescript and Python.

  • Collaborate with team members using best-in-industry software engineering tools and processes such as source contro and code review obtained from feedback on code developed.

  • Follow an established procedure to diagnose and identify the root cause of problems with existing software. 

  • Monitor and analyze application performance, resilience, and effectiveness.

  • Communicate effectively to the team about timelines to deliver work efficiently and reliably.

Here’s What You’ll Bring to the Table:

Minimum requirements:

  • Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field and two (2) years of experience as a Software Engineer, Software Engineering Associate/Analyst, or related position.

  • Experience must include:

    • Applying AI technologies to build a platform;

    • Utilizing machine learning algorithms to solve programmatic problems;

    • Javascript and NodeJS;

    • Cloud computing;

    • Designing and developing non-relational databases;

    • Python; and

    • Git source control.  

  • May telecommute up to two (2) days per week.

  • Under Washington State law, Moderna is required to provide a reasonable estimate of the salary range for the jobs covered by this description. Base compensation for these positions in Washington State range from $120,500 to $193,000. Actual salary determinations will take into account factors such as work location, prior education and experience, job-related knowledge, and demonstrated skills. Compensation decisions are made on the facts and circumstances of each case. The minimum target pay for this particular position based on the primary location of the position is $176,800-$193,000.
