The Opportunity
The Chief Financial Office Data and Analytics Future Leaders Program is crafted to develop entry level talent to be the future generation of leaders for the organization through meaningful projects and team assignments, senior leader exposure, and professional development opportunities within the Chief Financial Office Data and Analytics (CFO D&A) at USAA.
The program is a 2-year rotational program where participants will rotate through a series of challenging and unique assignments. Each assignment will be approximately 8 months in length but may vary based on business needs. Throughout the rotation, participants can expect to improve their business and CFO acumen, data and analytics toolset, leadership skills, gain exposure to key CFO D&A areas and disciplines, interact with executive leaders, and receive frequent developmental feedback. The Data and Analytics Future Leader’s Program is open to data and analytics related, undergrad graduates or Master’s Program graduates who exhibit strategic thinking, D&A acumen and demonstrate outstanding leadership potential.
Possible Rotation Assignments:
- Information Stewardship and Data Governance: Manages CFO Information assets and remedies gaps related to Enterprise Data Governance requirements. builds and implements data monitoring rules using a variety of techniques and tools, supports data management efforts in adherence to USAA internal policies, standards, procedures, and external laws and regulations.
- Business Intelligence: Analyzes business problems and issues using data from internal and external sources to provide insight to analysts and decision makers. Crafts specifications for reports and analysis based on business needs and required or available data elements.
- Insight Delivery: Within defined guidelines and frameworks, consults with the business to understand and define opportunities and recommends solutions by analyzing data and providing key insights to inform decisions.
- Data Science: Within defined guidelines and framework, translates business problems into applied statistical, machine learning, simulation, and optimization solutions to inform actionable business insights and drive business value through automation, revenue generation, and expense and risk reduction.
We offer a flexible work environment that requires an individual to be in the office 4 days per week. This position can be based in one of the following locations: San Antonio, TX. Relocation assistance is available for this position.
What you'll do:
Under direct supervision and following risk and compliance procedures and guidance, you will perform routine work assignments and problem resolution to support other team members tasks, including the following.
- Captures business requirements by partnering with customers to define the business problem and data needs.
- Ensures that information management practices: Metadata management, Data Quality, Data Lineage, Data Profiling, etc. are coordinated into appropriate business and technology processes in support of the Information Governance policy.
- Utilizes basic knowledge of multiple data structures and sources to support the development and implementation of business intelligence solutions, which may include data visualization, business intelligence, data transformation, or data collection.
- Develops partnerships with IT execution teams on the development of analytic infrastructures, data engineering, or related business intelligence enablement efforts. Includes collaborating on the design and implementation of technical standards and governance practices.
- Supports the delivery of business insights using data querying approaches, machine learning, simulation, and optimization.
- Acquires knowledge of data analysis techniques, technologies, and methodologies. Works closely with more senior data scientists to perform hands-on model life cycle related tasks.
- Partners with senior team members to develop and deploy models within the Model Development Life Cycle (MDLC) and Model Risk Management (MRM) framework.
What you have:
To qualify, you must be pursuing a bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, computer science statistics, economics, finance, actuarial sciences, science and engineering, or other similar quantitative discipline. Master’s degree is strongly preferred, but not required. Our 2025 cohort begins July 14, 2025.
- Graduation date must be prior to July 1, 2025
- Up to 2 years of experience in Information or Data related practices to include: information governance, information management, IT, business analysis, and reporting.
- Foundational experience in one or more dynamic scripted language (Python, R, etc.) and database query language (such as SQL, HQL, NoSQL, etc.) for performing data manipulation tasks, statistical analyses and/or building and scoring AI/ML models.
- Knowledge and/or awareness of business intelligence and data management platforms (Tableau, Business Objects, Snowflake, Hadoop, etc).
- Strong sense of intellectual curiosity and an interest in problem solving.
Compensation range: The salary range for this position is: $51,370.00 - $92,060.00
Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location.
Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
