Data Engineer Intern

The Position

We are looking for an eager and motivated Data Engineer Intern to join our team. In this role, you will assist in building and maintaining data pipelines, supporting data integration tasks, and learning how to leverage cloud and database technologies. This internship provides hands-on experience in data engineering, and you will have the opportunity to work with experienced professionals and grow your skills in data technologies.

What You Will be Doing

• Assist in building, testing, and optimizing simple data pipelines using tools like Azure Data Factory.
• Help manage and integrate data from different sources (SQL and NoSQL databases).
• Write basic SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL).
• Support data engineers in automating processes and writing Python scripts for data manipulation.
• Monitor data quality and assist with resolving data issues.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure proper documentation of processes.
• Learn about data modeling and best practices for data engineering.

What We Need from You 

• Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, or a related field.
• Basic understanding of SQL and experience with relational databases (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with Python, especially for tasks like data manipulation or basic scripting.
• Exposure to Azure Data Factory or other ETL tools (e.g., through coursework or personal projects).
• Familiarity with NoSQL databases (e.g., MongoDB, Firebase, or similar) is a plus.
• Basic knowledge of cloud platforms, particularly Microsoft Azure (through coursework, personal learning, or projects).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies.
• Effective communication skills and a willingness to collaborate with team members.

It Would be Nice if You Had

• Some exposure to version control systems (e.g., Git).
• Interest in data engineering and cloud technologies.
• Basic understanding of data warehousing concepts.
