Located in New York City, the Mount Sinai Health System is an integrated health care system providing exceptional patient care to our local and global communities.The Department of Population Health Science and Policy is seeking a full-time Data Analyst II to work directly with Dr. Katharine McCarthy on projects related to adolescence, lifecourse cardiometabolic disease, school policy, and maternal health research. The Data Analyst II will be an integral member of the research team, and will collaborate with study investigators (including epidemiologists, NYC Office of School Health researchers), and other research team members on projects related to preconception cardiometabolic health. Opportunities exist for mentorship and professional development.
The ideal candidate would be: 1) highly motivated and responsible; 2) an effective communicator; 3) extremely organized and detail-oriented; 4) someone who combines initiative with responsiveness to supervision; 5) someone comfortable asking questions and eager to learn; and, 6) flexible and able to shift gears as new tasks present themselves.
- Engage in data management, data cleaning/ merging, variable creation and data analysis.
- Contribute to literature reviews and assist with conference presentations and manuscript submission.
- Communicate and work with internal and external collaborators, including the NYC Office of School Health.
- Master's degree preferred in one of the following domains: Biostatistics, Epidemiology, Public Health, Engineering, Mathematics, Operations Research, Statistics, Social Work, or related academic area. Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree required.
- 3+ years of analytics experience including report development and database application/management experience, preferably in a large medical center or healthcare environment
- Strong quantitative skills and proficiency working with data analysis tools such as STATA, SAS or R.
- Previous experience with data management, variable creation, data cleaning, bivariate and multivariable modeling is preferred.
- Highly motivated with high attention to detail.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Highly motivated and interested in developing a research career.
- Able to work independently in a multidisciplinary setting.
