CoPilot AI is a Vancouver-based SaaS start-up with a mission: to innovate the way people grow their business by humanizing digital interactions in a scalable way.

We believe in maximizing authentic and mutually beneficial human connections for business growth, which is why CoPilot AI automatically targets qualified people on social media, initiates one-to-one conversations, and surfaces timely sales opportunities without requiring any cold calling, events, or expensive advertising. Our goal is to create a place where our customers can have more meaningful conversations at scale.

As we scale into the next phase, we are looking for a Vancouver-based Data Scientist to join our product development group!

The Role

This is a unique opportunity for a highly motivated and dynamic individual who is passionate about data science and eager to make a tangible impact in the rapidly growing field of AI sales tools.

In this hybrid role, reporting directly to the Engineering Manager and closely collaborating with senior leadership—including the CEO & Co-Founder —you will lead the generation of critical insights to drive strategic business decisions. You will leverage your data science expertise to generate actionable recommendations, perform rigorous data analyses, and communicate findings clearly and confidently to leadership and stakeholders across the organization.

As a Data Scientist, you will play a pivotal role in CoPilot AI’s ambitious growth plans, combining technical proficiency with industry knowledge, innovative vision, emotional intelligence, thought leadership, and a solutions-driven mindset to drive excellence and foster alignment with CoPilot AI’s people-first approach. You will partner with engaged stakeholders who value your skills and see you as a key thought partner in driving the business forward.

What You’ll Do:

  • Data Science Leadership: Be the pioneer data scientist at CoPilot AI, shaping the future of our data platform strategy and roadmap, and championing a culture of data-driven decision-making.
  • Product Development Integration: Fully integrate in our EPD (engineering, product and design) group, collaborating daily with ML/AI engineers, software engineers, product designers, and product managers.
  • Statistical Analysis Expertise: Leverage rigorous statistical analysis to validate ideas, refine processes, and continuously improve product performance using the build-measure-learn approach.
  • Exploratory Data Analysis: Dive deep into exploratory data analysis to reveal powerful insights and trends, driving strategic product decisions.
  • Customer Behaviour Insights: Uncover patterns in extensive datasets to pinpoint successful customer behaviours, enabling scalable and repeatable growth.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Clearly and compellingly communicate your insights and recommendations to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, influencing critical business decisions.
  • Dash-boarding and Reporting: Create impactful self-service dashboards and automated reporting solutions, democratizing data access and empowering every team to make informed decisions.
  • Data Transformation: Leverage dbt, materialized view and other tools/techniques to take raw data into a analysis ready state.

This is a highly valued and critical role within the company, and our expectations are equally high. Whatever you do should drive growth and impact. We will reward the right candidate with career growth, professional development opportunities and perks. Most importantly, you will be part of a success story, joining a team of high-performing professionals committed to excellence.

Who You Are:

  • You have 4–6+ years of experience as a data scientist, with a proven track record of independently executing projects and analyses.
  • You have proven experience as an intermediate data scientist, capable of independently executing projects and analyses.
  • You have strong proficiency in SQL and Python, along with experience using data warehousing solutions (e.g., Snowflake or similar).
  • You combine your strong business acumen with statistical expertise (e.g., confidence intervals, regression modelling, significance testing) and have demonstrated experience with common machine learning techniques for deep data mining and exploration (e.g., predictive modelling, time series modelling, classification, and clustering techniques).
  • You are competent in developing interactive KPIs and self-serve dashboards/visualizations using tools such as GoodData, Looker, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • You have excellent communication skills, adept at translating complex data into actionable insights for diverse stakeholders, and you're comfortable presenting complex data insights to non-technical stakeholders, including executives and the CEO.
  • You are a skilled AI practitioner.

Bonus:

  • Familiarity with data ingestion and integration tools (e.g., FiveTran, Estuary, or equivalents), and comfortable flexing into the data warehouse engineering space
  • Experience with data engineering tasks such as ETL processes and data pipeline management.
  • Familiarity with data transformation tools like DBT or similar.

What’s In It For You:

  • Competitive Compensation: A competitive annual base salary between the range of $105,000 - $115,000 CAD.
  • Hybrid Work Environment: Enjoy the flexibility of a hybrid work environment where CoPilotteers come into our downtown Vancouver (Coal Harbour) office 2 days per week and work from home when you need it.
  • Comprehensive Benefits: We've got you covered with a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Health and Wellness Spending Account: We care about your well-being inside and outside the office. You will receive an additional $200 per month for a health and wellness spending account that accrues upon passing probation - our team uses it for their at-home office setup, electronics, gym memberships, haircuts, and more!
  • Paid Time Off: We offer a generous paid time off policy as we believe that rest and rejuvenation are key for high performance.
  • Stock Options: Upon joining CoPilot AI, you will receive stock options with the expectation of significant value. We're a team of high performers working together on a breakthrough success story, and we want you to share in the value we're creating.
  • Culture Building Initiatives: Company-wide events hosted by our Culture Committee, as well as regular team events, designed to foster connections between CoPilotteers.

Our Interview Process

One of our operating principles is transparency, so we’d like to share our interview process with you:

  1. Phone Screen (30 minutes): A 30 minute audio Zoom call with a member of our People & Culture team or the Hiring Manager to align on the position, share context about our team and goals, and learn about your interests, skills, and experiences.
  2. Technical & Competency Interview (90 minutes): A collaborative session with our engineering team over Zoom. You’ll work through a short, real-world data-related exercise while explaining your thought process. We’ll also discuss past experiences where you’ve tackled complex data challenges, diving into your problem-solving approach, decision-making, and technical trade-offs. There will be time for questions so you can learn more about how our team operates.
  3. Culture Add Interview (60 minutes): A conversation with cross-functional stakeholders (Product, Design, etc.) to explore collaboration style, culture alignment, and your potential to enhance our team dynamics. Think of this as a chance to connect beyond just the technical skills!
  4. Offer & Reference Checks: If you’ve made it this far, our Senior Director of Engineering & AI Research will give you a call to share the good news with you! We’ll ask you for two professional references and send over the formal offer documents. Then it’s simply a countdown until your start date!
