Data Governance Engineer

We are looking for a Data Governance Engineer with strong technical skills and solid working experience to work in new challenging projects. 

General Responsibilities:

• Ensures the development and maintenance of the Data Governance framework in collaboration with the Business Divisions, with the primary goal, among others, of ensuring the quality and consistency of data within and outside the Organization’s Information Systems.
• Ensures that the methodologies and approaches for the development and operation of modern data technologies and applications are in accordance with the established Data Governance frameworks and policies.
• Ensures the smooth operation of the Data Governance Framework, ensuring the participation and collaboration of required roles from all involved parties (Data Owners and Stewards, IT Department, Business Divisions, Cybersecurity Department, etc.).
• Participates in establishing a culture of effective use of the Organization’s data, through the development and implementation of a training and communication plan for Data Owners and Stewards, in accordance with the Data Governance Framework.
• Monitors technological advancements in the field of data governance standards and recommends the adoption of new ones, with the aim of continuously improving the data management services provided to business divisions.

Special Responsibilities:

• Participates in the development and updating of the Data Strategy and the creation of an implementation roadmap, in alignment with the Digital and Corporate Strategy, considering the organization's infrastructure, tools, and business needs.
• Takes responsibility for the development, review, optimization, and periodic revision of data governance and management policies and procedures (e.g., Data Criticality Definition, Data Quality Management, Data Modeling, Master Data Definition, Genealogy, etc.).
• Ensures the proper implementation of data classification and the management processes for critical data elements and master data, in collaboration with the corresponding Data Owners.
• Coordinates and collaborates with the respective Data Owners and Stewards to design and implement actions for creating the Business Data Catalog and identifying Critical Data Elements, ensuring consistency in definitions with the requirements and critical processes of the organization.
• Coordinates and works with Data Stewards to define and document the rules derived from data policies and standards, ensuring data quality and integrity for catalog items, aiming to ensure the quality and security of data in the company's information systems and applications.
• Participates in mapping the Data Lineage, including the flow and transformation of data, and defining the starting/ending points of the data for each flow, including intermediate stages where data processing/transformation occurs.
• Assists in resolving data management issues and performs root cause analysis, contributing to identifying and applying the solution to the problem or escalating it to a higher level.
• Participates in the evaluation of alternative solutions, products, and data governance, management, and analysis services from different Providers or Manufacturers, selecting the most suitable solutions based on the organization's requirements in alignment with the Data Strategy and established governance framework.
• Collaborates with relevant departments to ensure data compliance with regulations and regulatory requirements.
• Coordinates the development and maintenance of technological solutions, products, and data governance services in collaboration with technical implementation teams and external partners.
• Is responsible for the development of performance metrics and key performance indicators (KPIs) to monitor the effectiveness of the governance framework.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering (from a Greek university or abroad).

• Preferred Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Management, or Business Administration.

• At least three (3) years of experience in Computer Science, Data Governance, and Data Management.

• At least three (3) years of experience in implementing projects in the field of Data Management and Data Governance, with knowledge of the modern technologies related to this field.

• Excellent knowledge of the English language.

• Knowledge of specialized software tools for Data Governance.
• Preferred certification in Data Management and Governance frameworks, e.g., CDMP – Data Management Fundamentals and/or DP-900 (Azure Data Fundamentals) and/or DP-203 (Azure Data Engineer Associate).
• Very good knowledge of architectures, modern technologies, and tools for Data Governance and Information Technology, including tools for modeling, data lineage, and data quality (e.g., Collibra, Informatica, Azure Purview, Data lakes, etc.).
• Knowledge and experience in managing Project Management tools/methodologies.
• Ability to analyze business and technical requirements for IT/Data Governance Projects/Programs.
