Job Description

We’re looking for a skilled and curious engineer to join the Competitive Intelligence & AI team at Swiss Marketplace Group (SMG). You’ll work on building scalable data products, infrastructure, leveraging ML/GenAI. This role blends crawling, data engineering with modern software development practices, contributing to multiple department’s data intelligence pipelines.

Our team is small, highly collaborative, and full of initiative and experimentation — we value engineers who take ownership, and bring ideas from concept to production in an agile environment.
 

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and develop scalable, reliable data pipelines and microservices (fastapi, flask) using Python.

• Contribute to the evolution of our ingestion infrastructure, enabling large-scale data collection.

• Collaborate on building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure using Terraform and ArgoCD.

• Work across cloud environments (AWS and GCP), optimizing performance and cost where relevant.

• Support ML and GenAI application development by shaping backend APIs, data flows, modeling and integration patterns.

• Contribute to monitoring and observability using Prometheus, Grafana, and Elastic.

• Partner with other engineers and product stakeholders to improve data quality, freshness, and coverage.

Key technologies: Python, Postgres, Redis, Kubernetes, Argo CD & Workflows, AWS (EC2, S3, SQS), GCP(BigQuery), Elastic, Terraform, Grafana

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Python (3-5 years min.) and experience with data pipelines, web services and data collection/ingestion techniques.

• Familiarity with orchestrators, and data normalization at scale.

• Knowledge of modern web applications, antibot & web scraping techniques is a big plus.

• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, cloud infrastructure (preferably AWS), and container orchestration (Kubernetes).

• Solid understanding and prior experience with asynchronous and distributed systems.

• Good grasp of SQL and graph based modeling techniques

• Prior experience in building data science models using ML and DL libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, PyTorch, Transformers, PySpark) is a plus but not a requirement.

• Fluency in English both written and verbal, with the ability to communicate complex concepts & topics across teams and levels.
