Job Description

Location for this role is in our London hub. Please note there will be no relocation budget for this position.

Background on the team:

Our team is Centre of Excellence for data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence at the LEGO Group. Our objective is to drive value at scale for the organization, by automating or facilitating decisions based on predictive and prescriptive analytics. We are structured in cross-functional product teams, working closely with the rest of Digital Technology at the LEGO Group. 

We are part of the Data Office, a hub of data practitioners across the LEGO Group. We promote data literacy, ethics and good governance, and are ambassadors for the responsible use of data to drive growth.  

Core Responsibilities

We're looking for a Senior Data Scientist to join our Data Science & AI team. This role is embedded within the Marketing Optimization Enablement (MOE) product team, which is responsible for enabling digital marketing budget optimization. 

As a Senior Data Scientist you will be working closely with the rest of the product team, data scientists, data engineers and software engineers to develop and enrich the digital marketing attribution solution at the LEGO Group. In addition, you will be responsible for: 

  • Model Development: 
    Contribute to the development of machine learning models to improve our ability to measure the impact of digital marketing channels on conversions. 

  • End-to-End Model Lifecycle Management: 
    Contribute to overseeing the full lifecycle of each new model developed, from problem definition and data collection to model development, deployment, and performance monitoring. Implement model updates and optimizations based on feedback, data changes, and business needs. 

  • Collaboration: 
    Bring a collaborative attitude to the product team, to resolve challenges in a positive way. Build a positive relationship with the rest of the wider DS&AI team to contribute to the overall growth of the team and with key stakeholders. 

  • Innovation: 
    Support the team by keeping up to date with industry developments in the marketing and tech area so the LEGO Group can stay at the fore-front of innovation.

Do you have what it takes? 

You come with a strong background in a quantitative field such as data science, statistics, mathematics, economics, or a related discipline. You are familiar with, and eager to explore, a diverse range of technologies including programming languages like Python and SQL; data processing libraries such as PySpark, Tidyverse, SparkR, and Pandas; platforms like Databricks and Posit; engineering tools including GitHub, AWS, Terraform, and DBT; and data visualisation tools such as Power BI. You have hands-on experience managing the full lifecycle of machine learning models—from problem definition and proof of concept to productionisation, monitoring, and continuous improvement. Furthermore, you have:

  • Good knowledge of digital media channels and are familiar with leading digital analytics and advertising platforms.

  • Understand cookie-level restrictions, data governance, and GDPR, and have experience working with individual-level data.

  • Comfortable working in agile, product-led teams across multiple locations, you are able to communicate effectively with colleagues from various backgrounds, including data scientists, data engineers, and product managers.

  • Skilled at building positive stakeholder relationships and translating complex technical concepts into business-relevant insights.

  • Thrive on developing your skills both on the job and through self-driven learning

Please note this role will have occasional travel (less than 20%).
