Research Scientist, Monetization Ranking AI (PhD)

The Monetization Ranking AI team is a critical part of Meta's Ads organization responsible for developing and deploying state-of-the-art artificial intelligence (AI) models that power the company's advertising business. Our mission is to cultivate enduring business growth and amplify efficiency through the development of state of the art AI technology designed to address intricate Monetization problems and aligned with our core business objectives. The team's primary focus is on building and optimizing AI systems that can accurately predict user behavior, preferences, and intent, in order to deliver highly relevant and personalized ads.

The Monetization Ranking AI team is seeking a Research Scientist to work on cutting-edge research to redesign the Ads model space, develop foundational machine learning technologies that enhance business impact, improve efficiency, and push the boundaries of start-of-the-art machine learning.Research Scientist, Monetization Ranking AI (PhD) Responsibilities

• Perform research in Artificial Intelligence focusing on areas such as learning from sequences and NLP.
• Collaborate with researchers and cross-functional partners including communicating research plans, progress, and results.
• Develop and apply novel AI algorithms and techniques to solve complex problems in Ads ranking and recommendation systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI solutions into existing products and services.
• Produce and present publications that influence the progress of AI or Machine Learning in relevant research communities.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners and contribute towards Meta's research product development.

Minimum Qualifications

• Currently has, or is in the process of obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, relevant technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
• Ph.D. degree in Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Data Science, a related field, or equivalent practical experience. Degree must be completed prior to joining Meta.
• Experience in solving modeling problems using AI/ML approaches.
• Experience in applying research to production problems.
• Experience in developing and debugging in Python, C/C++, or other related language.
• Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Proven track record of achieving significant results as demonstrated by grants, fellowships, patents, as well as first-authored publications at leading workshops or conferences such as NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, AAAI, etc.
• Demonstrated research and software engineering experience via an internship, work experience, coding competitions, or widely used contributions in open source repositories (e.g. GitHub).
• Experience in working with large scale recommendation systems such as ads, content recommendation, etc.
• Experience bringing machine learning-based products from research to production.
• Experience working and communicating cross-functionally in a team environment.
• Demonstrated experience in solving analytical problems using quantitative approaches.
• Experience solving complex problems and comparing alternative solutions, tradeoffs, and different perspectives to determine a path forward.
• Experience manipulating and analyzing complex, high-volume, high-dimensionality data from varying sources.
