A Brief Overview
The Data Analyst assists with training, coaching, and feedback of unit based data collection processes to ensure high reliability across the organization. Collects unit based and regulatory data and reviews performance to monitor compliance. Assists in creating data collection plans for improvement projects and tests of change. Ensures that process metrics are in place for improvement initiatives. Assists in statistical analysis of data for unit and regulatory initiatives. Develops and sustains dashboards to display data. Acts as a liaison between clinical/nursing teams and analytics and reporting department.
What you will do
- Develop, utilize and revise existing standard operating procedures
- Works collaboratively with the Safety Quality Specialists (SQS) and NCCS Regulatory team to directly support performance measurement
- Participates in the designing of process and balancing measures
- Reviews and revises data collection tools and processes
- Creates operational definitions to ensure reliable data collection
- Develops and sustains dashboards or online track measures to display and track data
- Collect, validate and disseminate data
- Audits patient records for documentation compliance and develops systematic reports as needed
- Provides feedback to SQS and NCCS Regulatory partners and informs key leaders of identified themes and trends in data and/or compliance
- Utilizes statistical analysis methods to analyze data
- Provide Training, Coordinating and Reliability of auditing program
- Builds capability of SQS' and Regulatory partners to understand measurement strategies and audit and data abstraction processes
- Develops educational materials as needed for unit based auditors.
- Provides supplemental auditor training on the proper observation, data collection and feedback techniques.
- Support auditors by providing feedback and suggestions for improvement.
- Lead auditor training sessions to focus on coaching, feedback and the use of clinical abstraction tools
Education Qualifications
- Master's Degree Required
Experience Qualifications
- At least two (2) years work experience in a complex health care setting Required and
- Experience with paper and electronic medical record systems. Required
- Clinical experience Preferred
Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of medical terminology, clinical workflow and the organizational structure of healthcare systems
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint and familiarity with Access preferred
- Understanding of basic SQL structures and format
- Working knowledge of reliability and safety science and improvement methods and tools such as the Model for Improvement, Six Sigma and Lean
- Able to convey complex or technical information in a manner that others can easily understand
- Able to manage multiple projects, work independently, and implement problem solving skills
- Ethical approach to work and to confidentiality/security of data and datasets
- Ability to pay attention to detail and data accuracy
- Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communications skills
- Self-directed, motivated and dependable
