About the role

A key role reporting to the Subsurface and Planning, Data & Applications Lead is responsible for managing key subsurface and planning data sets within databases and use their expertise to identify any opportunities for improvement. The incumbent will work closely with the business, digital and information systems, corporate IT and the subsurface and planning data and applications team to support existing business workflows as well as identifying gaps in current processes and develop robust technical solutions to bridge those gaps.

• Manage subsurface databases and datasets, ensuring optimal functionality, performance, security, and integration across both existing and new tables and views.
• Build and maintain strong stakeholder relationships, ensuring subsurface and planning data is managed in accordance with established workflows, assurance processes, and peer reviews.
• Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives to enhance data management and workflow efficiency.
• Develop, maintain, and document automation solutions to streamline data flow between subsurface and planning databases and consuming systems.
• Ensure data practices align with broader data architecture and management principles, including governance, security, metadata, and quality, while developing reusable code modules for data pipelines.
• Troubleshoot data quality and availability issues, working closely with business stakeholders and IT teams to resolve challenges affecting subsurface and planning datasets.
• Maintain and contribute to the data glossary, ensuring the accuracy and relevance of published data sources.

About you

You will role model Origin’s values, be self-driven, with ability to be proactive and take initiative. A team player with ability to work collaboratively with a broad range of people across levels, building positive, productive working relationships.

More about you

• Experience in a relevant or similar role within Oil & Gas.
• Understand subsurface data sets including geological, production and reservoir engineering data.
• Experience working with and QA/QC of large data sets.
• Knowledge of both SQL and Oracle database design and administration.
• Demonstrated safety focus.
• Experience consulting to or working with multi-disciplinary teams.
• Excellent and adaptable communication and presentation skills, with strong stakeholder engagement skills
