The Opportunity

This position works out of our St. Paul, MN location in the AVD division. Abbott Vascular provides innovative, minimally invasive, and cost-effective products for the treatment of vascular disease.

In this role, you will design, implement, and maintain state-of-the-art vision inspection solutions to ensure product quality and process efficiency. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to integrate vision systems into our operations and deliver innovative inspection technologies.

What You’ll Work On

  • Design and develop automated vision inspection systems to detect defects, measure dimensions, and ensure quality control.
  • Configure and program vision system hardware and software, such as cameras, lenses, lighting, and image processing tools.
  • Integrate vision systems with automation platforms, including robotics, PLCs, or SCADA systems.
  • Create procedures for testing, validation, and optimization of vision systems for various applications.
  • Troubleshoot and maintain existing vision inspection systems to ensure continuous operation and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and quality teams to identify inspection requirements and propose solutions.
  • Stay up-to-date with advancements in vision inspection technologies and methodologies.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors Degree in engineering, science, or closely related discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of significant engineering and/or operational experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proven experience in designing and implementing automated vision inspection systems.
  • Proficiency in image processing tools and programming languages such as OpenCV, MATLAB, or Python.
  • Familiarity with vision system platforms like Cognex, Keyence, or similar technologies.
  • Knowledge of camera calibration, lighting techniques, and industrial communication protocols.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities.
  • Experience with machine learning techniques for image recognition and defect detection.
  • Familiarity with robotics and motion control systems.
  • Knowledge of industry standards and compliance requirements related to vision inspection.

The base pay for this position is

$75,300.00 – $150,700.00
