The Role

The Data Scientist II is a core contributor to the Data Science team in both activating commercial value and growing Heidrick’s powerful & proprietary data asset. The role will work across the broader Heidrick Labs (HLabs) group bringing together the top minds in Leadership Data, Analytics, ML/AI, Psychology and Research to define, develop and deliver cutting-edge insights, assets and tools to both differentiate Heidrick and Struggles and deliver improved commercial performance.

A successful candidate will bring curiosity, drive and collaborative abilities to pair with a strong Data Science acumen. The candidate should demonstrate the capability to excel at all points of the data science workflow, from gathering user insights and formulating high-level delivery strategies, to independently coding and working with deployment teams to create production systems.

Demonstrated interest or experience in the social sciences is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities:

The role will bring a customer-first approach to:

  • Engage business users to understand core needs and business value to best gather requirements and shape needs.
  • Acquire, clean and prepare complex data sets for use in model and tool development.
  • Independently and/or collaboratively build predictive AI/ML models across text, time, classification, regression and other common approaches.
  • Translate technical details through storytelling to share model/project progress and outcomes with stakeholders to iterate on refining and meeting expectations.
  • Respond to data-focused requests from client-facing stakeholders.
  • Effectively work with cross-functional teams to extract value from data-driven initiatives.
  • Manage data science projects end-to-end.

Required Qualifications

  • 4+ years of experience in a data science/analytics role.
  • Degree in statistics, analytics, data science, or similar field, or equivalent practical work experience.
  • Excellent storytelling, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrated skill using SQL to extract data and create new data structures.
  • Strong understanding and expertise of common statistical, artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques with a proven track record of deploying them effectively against key problems to solve.
  • Proficiency in at least one statistical programming language (Python preferred) to uncover insights and build machine learning and/or statistical models.
  • Experience using Github to manage and document projects.
  • Excellent communications skills and a customer-first approach to collaboration.
  • Curiosity and an appetite for continuous learning.
  • Problem-solving, analytical mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in applying statistical methods within the social sciences.
  • Experience building and/or leveraging Large Language Models (LLM) and other Neural Networks.

Pay Range Guidelines for this Position:

The salary range for this position is 110000 USD to 122000 USD. Compensation is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience and skills. In addition to your salary, Heidrick & Struggles offers discretionary bonuses (subject to eligibility requirements) and a comprehensive benefits package including: medical, dental, vision, disability leave, parental leave, paid time off and 401k contribution (all benefits are subject to eligibility requirements). Note: we have a location based compensation structure; there may be a different range for candidates in other locations.
