IT Analyst III – Strategic Analytics

Job Description

As an IT Analyst III on the Strategic Analytics, Workforce, Legal & Compliance team, you will be part of the Data Shared Services tri-institutional community of developers and analysts who work collaboratively to meet the data and analytics needs of NewYork-Presbyterian, Weill Cornell Medicine, and Columbia. This position will focus on developing analytics tools and data processes that foster data-driven decision-making across the tripartite consortium.  This position will work with a wide range of data types and domain areas. Our stakeholder groups include Human Resources, Medical Staff Office, Graduate Medical Education, Legal Affairs, Corporate Compliance, Billing Compliance, and Information Security. This position will also work hand in hand with five other Strategic Analytics core teams, as well as the Data Platform, Data Engineering, Data Science, and Data Literacy teams to support their efforts.

The Analyst will be responsible for independently collaborating with stakeholders to build dashboards and conduct analyses to provide information and insights that contribute to sound strategic planning, decision-making, goal setting, and effective performance measurement. The incumbent will maintain project plans and priorities, understand the needs and technical specifications of incoming data requests, extract data elements from various sources, design and build useful analyses, and share development and process knowledge with other analysts to eliminate redundancy and continuously build a core of analytical strength within the organization.

Ideal candidates will be detail-oriented and passionate about using data to solve problems in healthcare, and able to think creatively and plan strategically. This position identifies and addresses expected and unforeseen data complexities to mitigate their impact on the analytic outcome and associated business decisions. The incumbent will work to improve data quality where possible within created analytical models and feed data quality issues back to identified data stewards to facilitate the creation of high-quality metrics. Two roles available.

Required Criteria:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field such as Biomedical Informatics, Epidemiology, Computer Science, Data Science, Public Health, Economics, Biostatistics, Health Policy, Statistics, or Biometrics or equivalent experience
  • Proficient in SQL and database modeling
  • 5 or more years of previous work-related experience
  • Experience with healthcare data
  • Experience with data visualization – Power BI
  • Clear demonstration of technical, analytical, organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and a positive, customer-centric attitude
  • Epic Module Certification (Cogito) or obtainment within six months of employment

Preferred Criteria:

  • Master’s Degree
  • Prior experience with Epic Clarity data models or other clinical and/or financial systems
  • Prior experience with Workday, Kronos/UKG data models, or other HRIS and workforce management systems
  • Prior experience with MD-Staff or other provider credentialing systems
  • Strong understanding of data design, architecture, relational databases and data modeling
  • Python, R, SAS, SPSS, Stata or similar software for statistical analysis and data science

$85,500-$139,000/Annual
