We are seeking an experienced leader with expertise in data governance and management to join our fast-paced dynamic team. This individual will establish an enterprise data governance model that will be foundational and critical to support embecta’s business leaders in effective decision making and driving growth. This includes defining data ownership, establishing data policies and enhancing data quality and continuously improving data management processes. This is a hybrid role based out of the Parsippany, NJ office. On-site attendance required weekly.

Essential Functions include but are not limited to

Data Governance

  • Establish a data governance strategy and roadmap for embecta, and stand up the data governance organization.

  • Ensure effective data management and compliance with regulatory requirements.

  • Define data governance roles and responsibilities and ensure clear accountability for stewardship of the company’s principal data assets 

  • Establish a governance council to prioritize strategic data governance initiatives and drive business adoption of governance policies.

  • Establish corporate data governance policies.

Data Quality and Catalog

  • Partner with Data Owners and Stewards to define data quality rules and implement monitoring tools and processes to proactively address data issues.

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of data quality standards, data protection standards and adoption requirements across the enterprise asset domains.

  • Define key performance indicators and quality metrics and ensure compliance with data related policies, standards, roles and responsibilities, and adoption requirements.

  • Drive data readiness for AI initiatives in the organization.

  • Document metadata for main master objects (Materials, Customer and Vendor Master) as well as for key domain assets. Define in scope fields, critical data elements, ownership responsibilities and field level business rules.

  • Implement a Data Catalog toolset to manage corporate data assets and a centralized common data glossary.

Data Migration & Management

  • Manage technical components within SAP MDG (Master Data Governance) tool.

  • Lead and manage the technical SAP MDG (Master Data Governance) technical team members supporting the MDG objects and processes. Objects include: Business Partner, Vendor Master, GL, Cost Centers and Profit Center.

  • Lead execution of data migration activities for key programs/projects as required. 

  • Collaborate with the MDM (Master Data Management) team members on master data management activities and the stewardship of data to ensure data is entered accurately and completely. 

EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Experience and Skills

  • Minimum 7 years of experience working within large organizations with focus on data governance and data management.   SAP experience is a must. 

  • Knowledge of industry leading data quality and governance practices

  • Awareness of global data standards such as GDPR and implications

  • Experience with Agile/waterfall project management methodologies

  • Understanding of enterprise master data domain data structures

  • Experience leading and managing project teams, both direct and indirect, to achieve shared business goals.

  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles and methodologies

  • Experience in SDLC, Computer System Validation (CSV) processes, Audit and Compliance components within a life sciences organization.

  • Excellent presentation and communication skills

  • Strong analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities

  • Able to develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analysis for technology and governance initiatives.

Education

BA/BS in engineering/computer science or related discipline required
