About the role

In this role, you will contribute to developing national ecological data standards and provide expert advice and services to design and build data transformation and transfer solutions that connect applications.  The role works closely with biodiversity data managers, data engineers, data scientists, and application developers.

The role contributes to the development of an effective biodiversity data ecosystem where field ecological survey data is harnessed from environmental assessments, monitoring programs and scientific research programs for reuse, and flows seamlessly to enable better, faster, data-informed decision making for our customers.

 

About You

Key knowledge and experience

  • Experienced working with Microsoft SQL Server, Microsoft PowerBI, Databricks, R-Code and Python.
  • Experience applying species taxonomic concepts and standards (such as Darwin Core) to species observation data collections.
  • Understanding of field biological survey methods, data and their application.
  • Experience in agile project methodologies, design thinking and/or lean start-up.

 

Essential requirements

  • A relevant tertiary qualification or extensive experience in biodiversity data engineering or Bioinformatics.
