As a Senior Data Scientist, you will contribute on various initiatives while also supporting the team through coaching on clever use of data and advanced analytics. You will be responsible for providing significant business value through the creation; maintenance; implementation of analytical, predictive and machine learning models. In this role, you will be involved in the development and review of automated reserve models that are connected to Claims Centre and return reserving predictions in real time.

 

How you will create impact:

  • Coaching peers on the use of a scientific methodology in all projects, tasks, and interactions.
  • Defining the required models/technique to solve business problems and support other thorough the execution. 
  • Having full proficiency in data science with a proven track record in programming, using various statistical techniques, predictive modelling methods, and machine learning algorithms to achieve the expected outcome.
  • Delivering and designing deliver and design production ready models and analytic solutions autonomously.
  • Designing data science projects by breaking complex problems or high-level business objectives into smaller problems that can be addressed using data science.
  • Making recommendations and influencing stakeholder groups, including management, with guidance from your manager.

To join our team:

  • You have 6-9 years of experience in Data Science or Actuarial Science.  Having experience in the P&C insurance industry is a requirement. 
  • You have a Bachelor’s Degree in Actuarial, Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or any other relevant field.
  • You have or are working towards an ACAS or FCAS designations would be considered an asset. 
  • You have strong knowledge and understanding of: Data analysis, Programing/tools, Modelling techniques, Data warehouse/data management, Research, Architecture/design.
  • You have experience solving complex problems by taking a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information and can provide clear recommendations for improvement.
  • Proficient in following technologies is required: R & SQL. 
  • This position primarily works with majority non-francophone groups, and teams located outside of Québec, and requires proficiency in English. The essential non-French duties are not assignable to adjacent or other team members.
