Your Role:
As a Principal Cloud Data Architect, you will play a pivotal role in designing and delivering scalable, high-performance cloud solutions using Azure data and AI services. You will collaborate with customers and internal teams to architect and implement transformative cloud solutions that drive business value. This position is available in either Auckland (preferred) or Wellington.
Key Responsibilities:
- Architect, design and implement advanced analytics cloud solutions that align with customer objectives.
- Educate and advise customers on the strategic benefits of cloud adoption, leading deep architectural discussions to ensure maximum business impact.
- Capture and share industry best practices within our architect community to foster innovation.
- Contribute thought leadership by authoring whitepapers, blogs, and delivering internal enablement sessions.
- Collaborate with Theta’s architecture team to enhance existing offerings, spearhead new initiatives, and drive continuous improvement within the practice.
- Build and nurture relationships with senior technical leaders, enabling them to become strong advocates for cloud adoption.

Required Skills:
- Extensive hands-on experience in designing and implementing large-scale analytics cloud solutions on Microsoft Azure, leveraging Microsoft Fabric, Azure Databricks, and Snowflake.
- Deep expertise in the Azure technology stack, including, Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake Storage, Azure Databricks, and Azure Data Factory.
- Direct experience migrating enterprise applications to cloud platforms, such as Microsoft Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud.
- Strong expertise in designing and implementing end-to-end data pipelines in Azure.
- Solid background in Data Warehousing, Business Intelligence, and Data Management.
- Proven ability to design and model scalable architecture solutions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong workshop facilitation and requirements elicitation capabilities.
- Proficient presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
Preferred Skills:
- 10+ years of overall architecture experience, with a minimum of 5 years specializing in Azure Analytics architecture.
- Proficiency in end-to-end architecture, design, and deployment of Microsoft Fabric is advantageous, with expertise in developing a comprehensive decision-making framework.
- 4+ years of hands-on experience in migrating and deploying cloud-based solutions on Azure or AWS.
- Hands-on experience with AWS is a plus.
- Azure Certified Professional certification is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding and hands-on experience of Infrastructure as Code (IaC), DevOps principles, DataOps practices and related cloud concepts.
- Knowledge of Agile, SCRUM, and Continuous Delivery methodologies.
- Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and strategic problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives and shifting priorities.
