About the Role

As an AI Engineer at Beam, you will play a crucial role in the development, implementation, and optimization of our AI models and systems. You will work closely with other engineers and product teams to build intelligent systems that improve business processes through automation and data-driven insights. We seek an individual passionate about innovating and leveraging AI technologies to drive growth and efficiency.

Responsibilities

This role involves researching, designing, and building AI-powered features that enhance our AI Agents' capabilities. You will be at the forefront of advancing agentic workflows, improving automation, and integrating state-of-the-art AI techniques. Your key responsibilities will include:

• Research & Innovation: Investigate emerging AI techniques, including reasoning, planning, and memory architectures, to enhance AI Agents' autonomy and adaptability.
• Feature Development: Design and implement new agent capabilities, such as function calling, multi-step task execution, and learning from feedback.
• LLM Optimization: Leverage prompt engineering, fine-tuning, and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) techniques to improve the performance and reliability of large language models (LLMs).
• Agent Orchestration: Develop systems that allow AI Agents to break down complex tasks, collaborate with other agents, and request human input when needed.
• Data & Workflow Integration: Work closely with data engineers and product teams to build robust pipelines for AI Agents to access structured and unstructured data.
• Performance & Scalability: Optimize AI systems for efficiency, ensuring that agents can handle real-world constraints such as cost, latency, and interpretability.
• Continuous Learning & Improvement: Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and software engineering, incorporating cutting-edge research into practical applications.
• Code Quality & Reliability: Participate in code reviews, testing, and deployment pipelines to ensure high-quality and maintainable AI features.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in AI, machine learning, or related engineering roles.
• Strong programming skills in Python, along with experience in SQL and familiarity with other programming languages (e.g., Java, C++).
• Experience with LangChain, LlamaIndex, or other frameworks for building AI Agents and LLM-powered applications.
• Knowledge of machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn).
• Hands-on experience with retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), function calling, and multi-agent collaboration architectures.
• Experience working with large language models (LLMs) and techniques for optimization, fine-tuning, and prompt engineering.
• Familiarity with vector databases (e.g., Pinecone, FAISS, Weaviate) for efficient information retrieval.
• Basic understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and their service offerings suitable for AI applications.
• Knowledge of agentic workflows, task decomposition, and AI orchestration techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to new technologies as needed.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills, with a proactive approach to collaboration.
• Self-motivated and detail-oriented, with a passion for creating AI-driven solutions.
