Course Number and Title: BTC1730H - Modern Data Analysis in Structural Biology and Drug Discovery

Course Description:


This engaging and comprehensive course explores the fascinating structural biology and drug discovery fields. Specifically designed for students eager to delve into advanced concepts, it addresses essential topics such as integrating AI in structural biology, data analysis techniques for drug discovery, and practical applications of AI in the pharmaceutical industry. 

Students will gain practical experience with programming tools, AI applications, and insights into molecular dynamics and simulations. The curriculum focuses on emerging trends and future directions in these rapidly evolving fields. Students will develop a strong understanding of AI's transformative role in structural biology and drug discovery through lectures and practical exercises. Class Schedule:  Specific dates to be determined in consultation with the MBiotech Program Office (NOTE: All courses at UofT Mississauga are expected to be delivered in person in Summer 2025)

Sessional Dates of Appointment: July 12th - August 28 th, 2025

Salary: $17,267.74 (includes 4% vacation pay)

 

Minimum Qualifications: A PhD and teaching experience is preferred, ideally in bioinformatics, with familiarity with biostatistics tools, protein folding, and AI tools in biology and structural biology and an understanding of how future AI tools might unfold in biotechnology and drug discovery.

Preferred Qualifications:  Same as minimum qualifications.

 

Description of Duties:  All regular duties related to the design, teaching and delivery of a university credit course, including:
Coordinating student team presentations, meeting with each student team to guide/advise them on their presentations as needed, and holding office hours as required.Marking/evaluating the BTC1730H student presentations and final examination; recording student attendance; registering and submitting grades; and communicating with students on course-related matters.
