We are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Content Recommendation & Enrichment team, specializing in content classification, entity extraction, and personalized recommendation solutions. In this role, you will drive the development of intelligent content discovery and enrichment pipelines that enhance user engagement and optimize content delivery.
You will be responsible for leading a team of engineers and ML practitioners, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and defining the technical strategy to improve content understanding, personalization, and metadata enrichment at scale.
Key Responsibilities
Lead & Mentor: Manage and mentor a team of engineers and data scientists, fostering a high-performance, innovative culture.
Strategy & Roadmap: Define the technical vision and roadmap for content classification, entity extraction, and recommendation systems aligned with business objectives.
Architecture & Scalability: Oversee the design and implementation of scalable machine learning models and algorithms to enhance content discovery.
Collaboration: Work closely with Product, Data Science, ML, and Content teams to develop solutions that improve content enrichment, metadata quality, and personalization.
Operational Excellence: Ensure high system reliability, performance, and efficiency in processing large-scale content datasets.
Innovation & Experimentation: Drive research and prototyping of NLP, deep learning, and knowledge graph-based techniques for content enrichment and personalization.
Stakeholder Communication: Clearly communicate technical concepts and project progress to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
8+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 3+ years in a leadership or management role.
Strong expertise in machine learning, NLP, and recommender systems for content classification and personalization.
Proficiency in Python, Java, or Scala, and experience with ML frameworks (TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn).
Experience in working with large-scale datasets, distributed computing (Spark, Hadoop), and cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
Strong understanding of metadata extraction, named entity recognition (NER), and semantic search technologies.
Proven ability to scale and optimize ML models for production environments.
Experience in building and leading high-performing engineering teams.
Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with vector search technologies (e.g., Vespa.ai, SpannerDB, ElasticSearch etc) for content retrieval.
Hands-on experience with graph databases and knowledge graphs.
Background in content/media industries and understanding of editorial workflows.

The compensation for this position ranges from $143,625.00 - $299,375.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
